But I haven’t seen any topics of challenges rural people face by choosing to live away from the” big smoke “ What other members actually live in country area ??? I’m 2 hours drive to Adelaide
There are several here and maybe if this new "forum" gets going it will be easier to see who is who. I live on the edge of a small rural agricultural and ranching town. I am 3 hours away from any big city and 1 hour from a small city that has some speciality medical treatment.
What @Faye Fox was asking for was a forum where we can chat about aspects of living in the country, and it does not have to be people who are living in the country right now, it can be people who have lived in the country and want to share stories about when they lived there. It might be people who have never lived a country lifestyle, but are interested in learning, or just talking about it. If you want to start a thread about the challenges of living a long ways away from any town or city, then that could be a very interesting topic for us to discuss. I have lived in the country and out of town, but not where I had to drive several hours to get to any stores, so I think that your experiences would be unique. We do have several members who live in the country, and others who have lived in the country, but do not live there now.
I don’t even live in a town ,I have to get in-the car and drive about 8 km there and back …… The area I live in has a different name to where the shops are ..”our town” consists of a post office / tavern / deli- take way food ( they are all in one single / joined building) it’s sorta walking distance 7 km return. The family who owned it when we moved to the area in 2004 / 06 has just sold the shop that’s not much more than a lean to building attached to the tavern for $2.7 million
We also live in a semi-rural area of the county, but if we drive 20 minutes we can be in the hell of Houston. I don't think I'd have much input on a "rural lifestyles" board unless it was reminiscing about childhood.
All of these comments are gonna have to get moved. Right now we're talking about having a place to talk about it. We're not supposed to talk about it yet. Damn country folk. I thought they had more patience.
I'm making a list of stuff I want to post. I can hardly wait, either! It's difficult enough staying away from that "Who Needs A Bra" thread, now I got this to contend with, too. It's not fair.
Thinking about it I think I could get all my bitches over and done with in a week ..mainly related to lack of medical treatment …or to be more truthful ..lack of ….Nah don’t worry about it ..I’ll get banned for life if I say that
You don't need a bra. My friend MA told be a long time ago, you just reach down, touch your toes, stand up, throw one over one shoulder, the other over the other shoulder, reach down, touch your toes.... It'l fix you right up.
Oh go don your overhauls and chew on a stem of straw Johnny. Country talk cannot be put on hold. It is like telling the tight-uddered cow to hold on a few more hours while you polish the bucket. We are just reliving the cow and feeding the barn cats while we await the shiny new bucket.
