I am hearing and reading that short shorts are coming back. I was amazed when I found this video and these old guys and gal are still singing about short shorts 63 years later. I had sworn off wearing short shorts last year, but this summer decided to give it a go again. So far just around my place for the shorties and for out walking, halfway down to the knees. I have never liked knee-length shorts. I also heard that short shorts are coming back for guys.
I sure hope the older ladies that wear short shorts have legs like Tina Turner!! The older lady in the picture looks like she has nylons on. And older men in short shorts, oh gosh, I hope not! When the weather is too hot or cold, I walk at a recreation center that has an indoor walking track. I have seen some older men (and women) wearing shorts that are waaaaay to short, the kind of basketball shorts of the 60's and 70's short. I haven't worn short shorts since I was in my 20's. My legs are not pretty at my age.
Of all the possible reactions I could have had to this picture "pull off" was definitely not one of them.
Oh my, bad choice of words on my part. I should have said, "I wish I could "rock" shorts....." Maybe "model" would be most correct.
In our neck of the woods, short shorts have never left and are modest compared to what some of the ladies are wearing.
Isn't that the truth? The things the young gals wear around here have no inseam and with such a low rise, aren't flattering in my opinion. I think the style that we used to wear (I still do) with a 2" inseam and high rise over the navel, are the most flattering to the female figure. I think that my justification for wearing vintage style short shorts comes from a revival I attended as a teen with my mother and the preacher giving his opinion on how Christian women should dress according to the times said, "When the women of the world go nude, a Christian woman should wear a bikini."
Or in my case, compression stockings. The cardiologist wants me in them so I'll wear them around the house but outside? With shorts? Nope.
