Nostalgia Songs

In Brooklyn the New Years Eve Party was held in my parents apartment we'd clear the furniture out of our largest room, that was a dance floor. The expenses we shared by family & friends, my mom & Aunts did all the cooking.
The only thing that wasn't shared was the music, I supplied the music and the amplification, I started when I was about eight or nine continued until my late teens. I guess what I did similar to a DJ today.
Had a wide range of music from swing, Latin, Rock n roll, current dance tunes like the watusi, twist, mashed potatoes, walk etc.
The three songs that got people up off their butts the most was Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock, Elvis hound dog, and this one:

 

Reminds me of my friend of 60 years since we were kids, my cousin dated her and he dedicated this song to her. We still talk on phone a couple times a week,they called us salt and pepper, she being brunette and me blonde. Gave my first daughter her middle name.

 

My friend and I took dance lessons at our kids school learning this dance, it was fun.Who could watch this movie and not want to learn the dance,

 

Since I Fell for You (composed in 1945! )

Although this is a sad song, it is sentimental to me in a happy way because it reminds me of a place where it played almost nonstop on the jukebox in the late 60s. Met a lot of people there I still remember well. Since everyone knows the Lenny Welch version, here's one from Glen Campbell.

Glen does a surprisingly good job on that song, I didn't know he could sing that type of song.

 

1964 movie, we all liked it as teens.

 

Embarrassing moment-- in elementary school during music our teacher would select a student to sing any song they wish. I was selected one time and this is the song that was popular at the time and I tried to sing it. I remember being terrible and red in the face.

 

Tony at least you were a kid. I was on stage in front of half the neiborhood and most of my new in-laws, Stage freight, I forgot the words, I could sing the song.

 

Although at a faster pace we use to all sing this ,mama played piano and everyone sang,

 

This one too, I was 7 when it came out. After a dew PBRs mama really got down with this one. She'd stand up pedals pumping fingers flying and her singing. Good times.

 

This song is from the movie One Touch of Venus with Ava Gardner and Robert Walker, I remember watching it as a kid on million dollar movie, it was.on TV for a week.

 

I can visualize my friends and I walking down the street singing this song. Goods times.

 

Teen Angel was very popular then too. He had some great songs and a great voice.
