Republican gubernatorial candidate for New York Lee Zeldin was in the midst of a speech on bail reform at a VFW in Perinton, New York (a small town just outside of Rochester) when he was attacked. At the point in his speech, he was talking about bail reform (meaning keep violent criminals behind bars.)

Zeldin was unhurt, and the attacker was subdued by a Marine Corps combat veteran.

It's gonna be real crazy heading into November, and then ANTIFA-riot crazy afterwards.

If things went the way they have been in NY, the irony is that the candidate was talking about bail reform and the assailant is probably already back on the street.

He was immediately released without bail, according to the news today.

And unless my sense of reasoning is completely gone, his name probably hasn’t been entered on the FBI’s potential bad boy list.

He attacked a Republican, so there is no story here. I suspect he may be up for a medal from the state, and the assailant will probably sue for damages as the candidate interrupted his use of "free speech".

The really sad part is that even though it was clearly an attempted assault with a weapon, everyone and their cat knew the guy would walk. After all, they wouldn’t want a democrat sitting in jail when it’s time to vote.

Probably a Democrat. Democrats are exempt from the laws that the rest of us are subject to.

Actually, the “weapon” involved doesn’t look very serious, it was some kind of a cat face thing, they called it a keychain. You can see the sharp ends of it in this picture that was posted on Twitter.
Even so, it was an unwarranted attack on someone, and the person should have been charged and held after an assault charge.

Here’s a “type” of the weapon used by the assailant. Granted, it isn’t pictured to be exactly the same but the funny thing is that in the video, the guy says that it’s illegal to ship in NY.
So, not only did the guy try to assault the candidate but also used a weapon that can’t even be shipped in NY.

I think it is an attempt to bypass New York's "No Knife" policy, but it has now been made illegal too. Perhaps he should have used a full-auto rifle, also an illegal weapon. I understand that it is designed to be used against arterial sites and major veins such as the carotid and jugular. Those ears could certainly have an impact there.

That’s essentially what I was driving at earlier.
The assailant not only used a potentially deadly weapon but one that can’t be purchased legally in NY.
So, that means he should have been charged accordingly but if he got out without bail then the charges had to be along the lines of simple assault.

Between the murderer not being charged at the Jan 6 thing and this guy getting cut loose it guess the Maxine Waters order was legal after all.

Trump said go in peace and Waters said to go kick ‘em and get in their face and guess who is being persecuted?
