Hubbys been dreaming of one too. We just can't go into that kind of debt. So we will rent a Bobcat this winter to clear some vines that are killing our old and new trees. I have cleared acres of them last winter and 1200' of fence line. But I'm too old to keep doing it.Hubby helps but tries to keep the autos going, rebuilding truck motor and van .belts .
When you rent, check out the weekly rates. I rented one with my neighbors, and a week cost the same as 3 days. You can also rent a hydraulic grappling bucket to grab the stuff and they'll deliver it installed.
Thanks for the good advice. It will be good to clear some of these vines. I have cleared some trails along with hubbys help when pole saw was needed but now vines are just too thick. Beats sitting around smoking for sure. I detest my addiction. But quitting after all these years can be more or just as dangerous. Anyway I like working in the woods.
