Don’t know if I’ve got a photo of my kitchen .. it has a 3 mtr wide bay window by the sink ..what a pain it is to try to keep it clean
Very nice John ,we have the double carport but we regret getting 2 roller doors ,if we’d been building now we have one single panel lift door. Our home is reddish brick veneer thats the most popular way of building in SA , however in Queensland homes are mostly what I call weatherboard designs. This is where we are at the moment ..,NOT THIS home we are a few homes up from there on top of a huge hill
That's a nice location. I imagine Australia is like the states...some green areas like ours and others that are more desert-like. Funny how we each have our likes. My old home is not in the best of condition, but it suffices. An investor bought it about 6 years before I bought it. The house was in bad shape and he unsuccessfully tried selling it just for the land (21 hectacres), and then he had the place renovated. They painted the old siding. The problem is the house sits in the middle of the cleared property. Lots of dust gets kicked up, so the light yellow color always looks dirty.
If I were alone, I could live in a very small trailer, as long as it was equipped with toilet facilities and a shower, but I think I could do that only if I could afford to travel. Living in a small trailer attached to the same piece of land would probably get tedious. My wife and I have talked about a motor home, or even something smaller, but the major problem there would be the cats. They don't like traveling and they'd go nuts in a small space, I fear.
My problem with traveling like that is I like having my living area "settled" and I like my cooking stuff. The thought of setting up camp and then striking camp with hours of driving in between day after day does not sound pleasurable. Then there's making meals...
Yes it is getting harder to find good campgrounds now, most are booked long as 3 years in advance. I know Ocean Lakes in South Carolina was a few years ago.I loved my bus it stayed ready to go just had to add food and clothes.
Love the setting @John Brunner I would have liked a bit if room to move when I was younger cause I would have loved to have a mini rainforest effect for my begonias and ferns to be planted in the ground under trees and palms ( we can all dream) but now I’m getting up close to …well 3.5 years off of 80 I’m sorta glad I don’t have allot of room to maintain. Despite only having a very small back yard the (house takes up most of the room) I have as mentioned before quite a few (bare at the moment ) fruit trees, and a little bit of room to grow veggies
We live in a corner facing the sea 500 mtrs away it’s really a bay so it’s not full on waves like the open sea Unless we get a huge wind storm, then I’m glad we have 30 ft cliffs between us and the crashing waves that do untold damage to the limestone cliffs. We have a reserve across the road from us they has a storm water runoff ponds with huge underground pipes for the water to runout to sea, the area looks lush at the moment ……well before we left for Queensland due to lots of winter rain ( unusual ) .
That's the advantage to having an RV; you're taking your "home" with you. I love traveling down the highway, then pulling into a rest area at lunch time. We can make a sandwich, turn on the TV, go to the bathroom, and even take a little nap before heading out again. When we had our dog, he loved to travel and rest areas were his favorite thing. We always do a "walk around", checking the tires and stuff before pulling out onto the highway again. I don't cook as much when we're on vacation, but I do have a fully-equipped kitchen and have been known to load up a crockpot, plug it in, and sit it in the kitchen sink (to keep it from accidentally falling off the counter while cruising down the road). Dinner will be ready when we arrive. In the motorhome, when we get to a campsite we unhitch the tow (Jeep), back into the spot, hook up to power and water, and push the buttons to level the coach and put the slides out. Not a lot to "striking camp" in an RV.
That's it. You guys are making me jealous. I am going to try to figure out how to take and post pictures on a nice day. I have a smart phone, now. You would think it could do it all by itself! I love my little farm but I worry about when it will be too much for me. I came in with near heat stroke, twice, while working on the thistles. It takes me 5 times as long to do anything now compared to 15 years ago.
Whilst traveling in the first small coach we had....i had pot of veg stew on...my husband claimed there was a red-light....on the interstate...60 mph...bam! Needless to say...he bought meals rest of journey!
