I guess we go through our hold life saying, when I retire, I will be able to take it easy. But in reality, it's just a different job now. Since I retired, I have been just as busy as I was ever, because if it's not one thing it's another. The hardest thing for me is everywhere you look, it's another unfinished project being put off till you can get through with what you think is more important.

I was just wondering about how others deal with jobs, they know need to be done but can't get to them yet. It's sometimes a little depressing knowing you cannot finish it all and seeing more that needs to be done everywhere you look.

I am very grateful to get all I do get done and not complain, as much as asking for others' advice about how they deal with the downside, of an unfinished project.

Opinions are welcome, will be glad to hear yours. Thanks

That sounds like something Marie would do.
I just don't have that option. lol
She would say stop the whining because that's a good example of a bad idea. :(

Yep; that sounds like Marie. :D:D

It does seem like projects are a never-ending thing now that we're retired. We just do what we can and let the other stuff wait (or call one of our sons to "git over here" and help us.) I'm good at putting a guilt-trip on the kids.

Our son is seldom in the country and the daughters are busy raising grandkids. When son is home he is 900 miles away in Houston.
So it is up to us alone or hired help which has to be insured and very costly. I do understand the cost insurance was high when I had it back in the 70's.

Our kids all live too far away now to help us so it's all on us. I do just as you say but wanted to see if others deal with things better or have learned to accept what is unfinished without that touch of guilt in the back of your mind.

He has lots of flyer miles so he visits a few times a year. But he also spends most of his off time with his kids, grandkids.

I suppose we try to prioritize and do what's most pressing first. Recently we found termites in the door frame around our front door so we really couldn't let that wait. So it comes down to things we want to do versus things we need to do. We both used to be DIYers but as we've gotten older we just aren't as enthusiastic (or as limber) as we used to be.

Hubby is now at the chicken pen trying to get a large rat snake out of the fence, snake got stuck, not sure he is dead or not. He has already taken several snakes to the woods last few weeks, last one Foxy was barking and reaching for was a small Diamond Back.
I tried to get under that fence last a couple months ago to clear out brush and small trees that had grown up in that pen next to pen where hens stay.
He was busy working on the 'autos' when I ask him to help me move that fence.
I'm stuck here no way out. So hope that part is really on its way. Sometimes I need to get away and see society. Its a good time to clean my van I guess. I usually like to use the Shark steam cleaner on it.

No, the snake is very much alive I got a couple pictures of it. Hubby had to cut him out of the fence. He is a big one!

I just took these, hubby said he just laid there when he let it go till he touched it, then it took off.

@Beth Gallagher, see this is like what I meant, things just pop up and you drop other things and get her done.
