Does anyone like doing cakes from scratch?

Fruit cakes are good if done right.

 

Double chocolate with vanilla ice cream.

 

Triple-layer coconut cake.

 

Hershey's dark double chocolate cake.



We do other baking too like cherry cobbler and apple pies.

 

They all look yummy, especially the cherry cobbler. I occasionally make pies and cobblers but I haven't made a from scratch cake in since I discovered cake mix. I do sometimes make my own frosting.

 

My MIL always ask me to make her a fruit cake. I like chocolate and hubby likes coconut cake.

 

That cobbler was delicious, looking at it makes me want to do another.
I use to use cake mixes for years but then after finding a couple of old recipe books, always from scratch and I think it's better for you, and at least you know what's in it.
I like apple, peach, cherry, coconut, and pecan pies, they're all good.

 

Me, too. But I think cherry and coconut are my favorite. Or maybe chocolate. Do you make your own pie crusts? That's one thing I never got the hang of. I buy them ready made.

 

I do, did both of those on cobbler and apple pie in the pictures above. As I name my favorite I always think of another one I love.

 

We were mailing to two different states to family each year.

 

The same fruitcake? They say that is the only way to get rid of fruitcake.

 

Probably true about store-bought, but the ones I make are different, taste more like a nut cuke not as sweet and rich.
