It's difficult to say what exactly happened. I mean exactly, because obviously he urinated on something, and videoed himself, or had someone else do the videoing. This apparently happened in Memphis, Tennessee, in a Kellogg's factory in 2014, but is just now coming to light. Any affected corn flakes would have already been consumed, so there's little chance of current or impending danger from this incident, but it does beg the question of how frequently things of this nature occur. The FDA has launched a criminal investigation into the incident. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...nating-cereal-kellogg-plant-article-1.2563060
Yuck! Disgusting! Our food supply has to be better controlled, seriously. Especially now, with terrorism. I think it would be very easy to get something very deadly into our water and food. It's obvious companies are very lax, look at all the recalls. Thank goodness I don't eat corn flakes, although it was some other cereals like Rice Krispies that he peed on, my poor grandsons eat those.
Also, thanks Diane....I've been slacking biting fresh food lately, this has taken away my appetite to anything ready to eat or processed. Least I can wash my veggies.
Something seriously has gone wrong. Trying to find someone to trust in all of this is getting very muddled. Regulations and inspections are definitely lax. I'm almost surprised that any of the bad stuff comes to light.
This was reported in our media last week..complete with the graphic Video...don't know why the US news wont show it..but it is indeed disgusting. Kellogs have assured the UK public that none of the Rice krispies from that batch were exported to the uk ..thank God...but you can see the actual video footage here.. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/man-urinates-rice-krispies-production-7544181
My aunt worked in a Campbells Soup Co. plant in Chicago. She would never have a can of their product in her house. Claimed she had seen things like rats caught in the plant, tossed into the machinery preparing huge batches of mix. Sickening enough to make one wonder.......
My mother would never eat strawberries for the same reason...she used to pick strawberries in the fields when she was young for the manufacturing companies, and the pickers would get paid by weight ..and to make the baskets heavier people would pee in them...she never ever ate a strawberry in her life after that!!
It's terrible, but things like this have always gone on. Today, we have cameras, so we get to be in the know.
Thanks for the video, @Holly Saunders. If the man was proud enough to film himself urinating on the products, you'd think the press would at least oblige his apparent need for fame by not blurring his hands/body. I wonder why they did that? They could at least hide his privates and show his hands.
Urine, generally, is quite sterile, though obnoxious, depending on it's origin and age. My Grandma told of applying horse-urine soaked bandages to serious wounds and cuts, which aided the healing process (?). Such revelation was sickening, to me. Later in life, I read that practice was fairly common! I remember also reading urine has a "scalding" effect, causing diaper-rash in small children. Human urine is about 15% Urea, an organic chemical commonly sold as a fertilizer for plants. OTOH, I do know that urinating on plants eventually kills them.
