Hey - I'm going to post a question for the day. I'll let you know tomorrow what the answer it. So, today's question is: Which book was Mark Chapman carrying when he assassinated John Lennon? The Bible The Catcher in the Rye To Kill a Mockingbird Brave New World
For all those that said Catcher in the Rye - congrats. On December 8, 1980, Mark Chapman shot John Lennon, remaining at the site, reading J. D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye until the police arrived and arrested him. He said that the novel was his statement and that his life mirrored that of Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of the book.
I'll go with Teddy Roosevelt - he seemed the kind to drink expensive wine, but not so sure he was a cheapskate! Give us a little hint??
@Joe Riley @Mal Campbell One of his quotes: "I did turn 75 today - but remember, that's only 24 Celsius."
This sounds like something Benjamin Franklin would say, but he was never president so.... How about Reagan??
I am confused...thought the quote was from Teddy...didn't think he was that old or used Celsius. It's in the Gipper's "ball park", age-wise!
Better late than never Mal quote. Mark David Chapman, the young assassin, was carrying two things with him when he shot and killed John Lennon on the steps of the Dakota apartments in Manhattan: a pistol and a paperback copy of The Catcher in the Rye. The function of the pistol was obvious. Less obvious was the function of J. D. Salinger's novel
