There have been many studies both scientific and otherwise about the increased odds of having accidents, illnesses, or dying on or around your birthday.

I am wondering if you once had accidents or illness around your birthday time, if that has changed and why you think that is.?

Until recent years, I always got colds and flu about a month before, during, and after my birthday and rarely any other time of the year. I thought at that time it was the birthday syndrome thing or maybe explainable because my birthday is in cold and flu season. After strengthening my immune system with daily antiviral medication, I haven't had a single cold, flu, or any other virus. Perhaps my immune system was lower that time of year.

Accident wise I still see an increase surrounding my birthday. I once thought it was because fall was when I did a lot of dangerous jobs readying for winter, but since the only jobs I do now are leaf removal and I still find myself having accidents like banging myself against a door, falling, or having close calls out walking or driving short distances, I remain undecided if it is the birthday syndrome or maybe just the season change or perhaps some other explanation.

I was beginning to think I imagined this so after a search I finally found one link that wasn't based on astrology or old wives (or widows) tales. I remembered hearing this since I was young, but you all had me questioning my memory. I asked a couple of friends and they laughed and said never heard of it and that I needed to find something better than the computer to do today since the AQI from forest and range fires is at a hazardous level. The moon was orange this morning. Windows closed tight and AC fan running continually. I have been challenged to a game of cribbage. I have lost badly the last few days.

You'd best be careful around "that date," FB. [IMG]

That study you linked focused on E.R. visits being correlated to birthdays.

I gotta think that many of us are subconsciously looking for the S.O.B. who smacked us on the butt when we were newborn & defenseless.

My best friend of 35 years and she is a real she and yes, I got my pegs left in the dust. It seems my luck is growing worse as my birthday approaches. If it gets any worse, I will concede early or stop playing cards until after my birthday.

    For two!

As far as high risk, there are some years I really want a fuss made about my birthday. And there are some where I don't want to know how the heck old I am!
The risk for everyone else to figure out my mood that year.:D:mad:
