Back in the 60's for English we read a short story, don't remember the title or author. It involved a courtroom trial of a young man who could do math in his head. After repeated testing with the guy completing all the tasks, they decided he was an abomination, and killed him. Interesting that already 60 years ago they knew what was going to happen.
Yup. As I've said before, I've read so much dystopian sci-fi that what's going on right now feels familiar to me...it's as though I am again part of those stories I read so many times over, just as I was when reading them. Except this is real...I think.
Orson Scott Card's Alvin Maker series is an alternate history novel, set in the 1800s, in which people with inherent skills in one area or another, known as knacks, are believed to be of the devil and people with knacks may be killed. People would hide their talents so as not to come under suspicion.
I wonder what will come of this. I attended a school board meeting where a lot was brought up to a new superintendent. Parents were invited to this meeting at 6:30 in the morning. Haven't been invited since. The Department of Education should be abolished and the curriculums should be locally handled.
When Carter first stood up the Federal Dept of Ed and Reagan took the White House, he hired a consulting firm to look at it. In short order--and before even doing much of anything--it had already bloated to many many times the staffing level required to fulfill its mission. Reagan merely tried to bring it back down to something reasonable. He failed. And this was before it had become entrenched. Education is not an Enumerated Power, as we all know.
Ken I do appreciate the video, watched every second of it, but I wonder why they have to put that ugly irritating music in so many videos now? Not complaining just ranting.
Unwilling to accept your child's sexual or gender identity? That would be a felony in Virginia if this bill passes. It would be felony child abuse, which will no doubt mean that you'll lose your other kids, too.
I like Ben and I appreciate being made aware of some of the more abominable things that go on instead of being blindsided. That said, just because less than 1% of the population has been handed a louder and more abrasive platform as of late, I don’t believe for a second that the other 99% are going to stand around for much more of the idiocy that is happening especially when it’s dealing with their children. The threat of good people being arrested over some communistic edict only makes those same good people mean. Mean enough to go out and buy more bullets.
And, along the same vein of thought we have a supposed journalist who tried to have a GOP candidate and mother arrested by child protective services for teaching her child…history and yes, in Virginia.
