We have a gift card from Red Lobster so we're having fried shrimp, baked potato, salad (and biscuits!)

Butter Beans and a chicken patty. I shopped early this morning before 9am and it only took a few minutes but my knees are so worn out I went back to bed twice. I hate to stay in bed then be awake all night. It was cool but then not really, the humidity really makes a difference this time of year. Still 84 today but nevertheless really nice and cool to nap.

We have to go to the medical center today so we'll probably pick up Subway sandwiches or a BBQ plate on our way home.

OK, scratch that. We stopped at a seafood restaurant and had shrimp, oysters, and stuffed crab.

After a long nap I got up and fed the cats their evening meal, myself I wasn't that hungry but I did have a biscuit and egg with sausage and of course coffee. I was buying the Jimmy Dean brand sausages and egg on biscuits for years and after Deans death and eventual sell off of the brand naturally who ever bought it promptly stopped using Deans sausage. It turned into a simple cheap rip off that could be purchased at any dollar store from the frozen shelve. I know what good sausage taste like and at one time Dean's was at the very top. Not today or tomorrow and I don't buy any Dean's products because it was simply a buyout of a famous once great product. The dollar store sells singles that actually taste the same as this new Jimmy Dean stuff. I hate companies that do this to consumers. Of course if you never had Dean sausage you will never know what it tasted like.

On this diet, I am not supposed to have potatoes. But I am cooking a sirloin steak, my favorite. Must have a potato, if no one tells on me. Leftover green beans, some nettle and I just picked some broccoli and purslane. No, I think I will keep the broccoli for tomorrow.

I stopped cooking several years ago so I don't eat the things I really love. I was especially in love with Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower and yes Turnips. Eventually I tossed out all my cooking gear like rice cooker and crock pot. I don't know if I will ever go back to cooking at all. Today it cost so much to cook a simple beef stew I just don't see it as good math any longer. Lately I have been buying a lot of spiced beans in the can, English Peas, Butter Beans, Lima Beans and a few other things. Each of those cost 1.50 and there is no waste, even the cats like to lick the bowl, after I'm finished of course :D

What kind of diet are you on, Mary? I don't think I could give up potatoes. :D

I made some pretty good salmon cakes. They don't hold together very well in the pan but they taste good so I'm not changing my recipe.

Dr Berg's keto diet. No white stuff; sugar! potatoes, rice, bread, pasta...everything I love, to make it low carb but lots of veggies--so not atkins. I believe in it for health reasons. Fasting is involved that people say they can't do. But when you take down the blood sugar, you don't get the insulin surges that give you cravings (but I dream about pizza )
