Personally, I think mullets are practical. They allow you to have long hair without it getting in your way.

And then there's the "skullet"........bald on top, long (usually grey) ponytail in the back.

I like your 3rd option. I kept wondering exactly what type of fish that sounded like. Halibut?

I've never had a mullet, but I've had a 'fro. My hair has always been naturally curly. When I was in high school and early 20s, it would grow into a natural afro.

    My friends called me "Link."

Mullet may be ok for men, but I personally don't like them on women.

Oh, I don't know. Of the two examples I gave in the OP, I'd much rather date the woman with the mullet than the man with the mullet.

OMG, I lied. Apparently I did have a mullet, though it was called a "shag." This is me holding my little niece; she's in her mid-30s now.

Talk about sheep. The Fifties was when we were sheep. The females I knew all did the same thing. Same hair, same clothes, same shoes, etc. Strange behavior, now that I look back.

Just look at how many different hair styles there are today. An interesting mullet, called the Jellyfish

So far I'm liking this mullet. Still needs to grow just a little more. Longer on the sides, so you can pull it together in the middle in the back and have a thicker tail to work with.

I checked the no button but I’ve actually had several. When I lived in Florida, I would catch them with a cast net and fry them up but so far as having one on the back of my head, not yet but there’s a lot of unknown future ahead.

I don't like tattoos, piercings, jewellry, bling affectations like expensive watches, clothes ... in our Image and Material world...

Yet, despite my desire to get a number 1 haircut I've had health issues making even a number 2 no good. So I've grown my hair for the first time in 4 decades. I just let it go and seems my natural is one of those Skullet Mullets which I like the look of.
Yet time, tide and hair growth waits for no man with my Mullet. It's morphing into something longer which I wonder at my feeble age: "Could I even grow a pony-tail?" My daughters like this cavalier approach of mine urging me on to try something else new: faucet tube, Astrolomy, Tictac, Jeep Pea sss, Goggle, ...
Maybe one day, I might have the Longest Mullet in my street.
