Bette Davis was the one who coined this phrase... Thinking today about all the people in my life that have come and gone and so many are deceased....I have 4 friends from my bridge life that I still talk to, one is 88, 90, 2 are 93, my neighbor friend is 95. And me 84. And 4 friends from the school days in the East and they are 84 and 85. I have cousins and some other friends in their 70's.... what about any of you.
My 2 grandkids 25 and 22 like to hear my life travels and health remedies...they are both into the same type healing as their gram.
My brother and my handiman both call me a witch doctor as my occupation. One spring the horses at a barn I boarded at were collicing more than normal. I dosed the horses with senna tea and other tweaks for collic and the barn thought the same of me. I had 5 bridesmaids in my first wedding. Only one and my sister are left.
My wife told me, "I really never thought I'd make it to 74, but I have". As for me, I never really gave it a thought just how long I might live. My MIL told wife and I, numerous years ago, "I can't believe how many of my church friends have passed". And, Bette Davis had it 100% right and thank you Joy for her comment. Bottom Line: Just how well an older person takes care of themselves. Joy, wife and I can only HOPE we make it to your age and possibly older. No matter our disagreements, you ARE an inspiration for all of us on this forum!
Well Cody, I had the good sense to make changes in the 80's when I ended up in the ER from a pharma drug. That was the turningpoint. And I can't go back, don't want to. Glad to ssupport the supplement world.
I'm feeling pretty old today. Yesterday, I spent the day at Legoland with the two little whirling dervishes. All day. I did what I said I was finished doing: rode the rollercoasters. In fact I rode the wooden roller coaster three times in a row. That one has great sentimental value to me as I rode it with my daughter and granddaughter at another amusement park back starting in the early 80's. When that park was closed down, the coaster was disassembled and sold to Cypress Gardens when they added amusement rides. Then Cypress Gardens closed and eventually became Legoland, where I rode it with my great-granddaughter. It's a 4-generation coaster! That said, today I feel like I've been beaten with a ball bat. Was it worth it, though? YOU BET! I'm a 12-year-old trapped in a 75-year-old body. My Inner Child is always getting my Outer Hag in trouble.
The fact that you could do all that is amazing in my life. I'm happy to walking but I live with a damaged body from hip replacement, I don't know what I am. I rode my last roller coaster on my 50th birthday and I'm 84. If your day and how filled it was was worth it, then it was so worth it. You'll recover.
Sure seems like to me. Even in my good younger years these occasions were now and then with some time in between, lots of time, even years.
