Saw this in PJmedia this morning: According to a poll conducted by Harris Poll, HarrisX, and the Harvard University Center for American Political Studies (CAPS), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) has the highest net popularity rating of any major American politician. In the survey, participants were asked to indicate how they felt about prominent politicians in the United States, giving responses such as very favorable, favorable, unfavorable, extremely unfavorable, never heard of them, or no opinion — and DeSantis ranked the highest of all of them. But that’s not all. When the politicians are ranked by the results, a pattern emerges: Gov. Ron DeSantis (+6) Former Vice President Mike Pence (+4), Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) (+3) Former President Donald Trump (0) Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) (0) Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) (0) Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (-3) President Joe Biden (-8) Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) (-9) V.P. Kamala Harris (-10) Sen. Charles Schumer (-12) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (-12) Hillary Clinton (-13) Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) (-15) Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) (-22) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (-22) With that in mind, there's the question of how any of this might affect coming elections. Have stupid people gotten any less so? Will the stupid party snatch defeat from an impending victory? Will the evil party lie, cheat and steal? Food for thought?
Trumps "0" ratings are because he was under major attack his whole term. Including by some RINO's and in part listening to his " advisors".
Dunno. Any time I see a poll dealing with politicians the alarms go off. Polls are the people’s response to what we see and hear from the media. I do like DeSantis and apparently he’s doing a great job but he’s also the only governor that is in the news just about every day. Matter of fact, I do not recall a day when he wasn’t in the news so that means he gets, in this case, more good exposure than any other politician. There could quite well be someone doing as good of a job as DeSantis but if the media doesn’t find them interesting enough, no one hears about them. A good example would be that even though D. Trump is successfully stumping for conservative politicians throughout the country, the media is still stumping for the Jan. 6 committee so some of the negativity toward Trump is media driven and believed by some of the listeners. Alas, it’s a derned if ya do and derned if ya don’t kind of thing. As it was said by Denzel, “those who do not read the news are uninformed and those who do read the news are misinformed”. If now, J. Biden, Harris and Pelosi were to be tied for last place, I’d want to believe that one.
Desantis is good for Florida and the nation. He isn't perfect but compared to the others ,he is close.
DeSantis has been determined to be more of a threat than Trump, so he is actually getting some negative exposure and name-calling by the media I see. Say what you will about McConnell, but I am grateful he managed to keep our current AG off the Supreme Court...so far, at least.
I'd go for a Trump-Desantis ticket or even vice versa but I'd be concerned with another steal vy the left. At this point I don't see anything saving America from these tyrants in office now.
The goal of many, if not most, of the polls is to influence public opinion rather than gauge it. This can be compared to the media, whose goal is to tell people what they want us to believe rather than to report the news. During the primaries for the 2016 election, the media actually boosted Trump because they didn't think he'd have a chance of winning the general election.
Having DeSantis as VP would be a total waste, both of DeSantis' ability and loss of a good FL governor. As for Trump, I get the sense that there is an even chance he won't be on the ticket. If he does run and Biden is replaced by a well-spoken moderate, Trump stands a good chance of losing. Anyone who doesn't think Trump is radioactive isn't paying attention. As best I can tell, the people who voted against Trump last time will do it again, not to mention that the knives are out for him in both parties. As for the stupid party (i.e., republicans), they'd better lose all "pie in the sky" messages and hammer on the issues that are impacting people's lives. Time will tell if I am right on this.
A whole lot depends on if the Reps win the House next month and who will take the seat of the Speaker. As it stands, we could end up with whomever the speaker is chosen to be as President if an Article 25 is proposed on Biden and if Harris gets thrown under the bus somehow.
Trump needs to go the hell AWAY. I'd love to see DeSantis run for president; he seems like a sensible, well-spoken man for a change. Plus, he doesn't have one foot in the grave or dementia. As for polls in general... pfffft. Don't we all remember the polls that showed Hillary by a landslide?? Oops.
Gov.Desantis has a very impressive history, https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=12ea...WtpcGVkaWEub3JnL3dpa2kvUm9uX0RlU2FudGlz&ntb=1 Born in Jacksonville, DeSantis spent most of his childhood in Dunedin, Florida. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. DeSantis joined the United States Navy in 2004, where he was promoted to lieutenant before serving as an advisor to SEAL Team One and being deployed to Iraq in 2007. When he returned to the U.S. a year later, the U.S. Department of Justice
In that vein, a NYT poll supposedly shows Trump as the most popular politician. Knowing how the NYT operates, one might think the Times is doing another "Get out the democratic vote" type of poll by waving Trump meat in front of their liberal readers.. Having some acquaintance with math and statistics, you'd be correct in thinking you can have a poll say just about whatever you want. It's a matter of phrasing the questions, sampling methodology and function parameters.
