I am also an independent who's not fond of either party - one giving every indication of being evil (e.g.,look what they're doing to the country) and the other quite stupid.(e.g.,look how they lost to the incompetent idiot Biden).

I am forever hopeful that if there is a "red wave" that the Republicans won't waste their opportunity to actually fix some things this time. The mess we're in now is going to take years to recover from, no matter which party is in power.

First order of business: CLOSE THE BORDER NOW.

Oh, what a surprise.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Not.

"At an Ohio campaign event on Monday, former President Donald Trump once again teased a possible 2024 bid for the White House.

"This is the year we're going to take back the House," Trump said at an event where he endorsed Senate candidate JD Vance. "We're going to take back the Senate, and we're going to take back America and in 2024 most importantly, we are going to take back our magnificent White House."

Trump added he has a "big announcement" planned for November 15 at Mar-a-Lago, but did not want to "detract from the importance" of tomorrow's election day."

I still do not think he is actually going to run again; but whether he does or not, he is definitely using that possibility to keep people thinking that he is going to do so.
A lot probably depends on what happens with this mid-term election.

If he's not running, then he needs to stop denigrating the other possible candidates like Ron DeSantis. He seems unable to promote anyone other than himself. Trump's ego knows no bounds; I don't see how he could pass up the opportunity to run again.

To a point, I sure hope he runs and gets elected. We need a much better President than we have now.

From what I have seen, President Trump is promoting DeSantis. The event at the rally was for a purpose. People were saying that DeSantis was teaming up with Paul Ryan and moving away from Trump, when Trump has always supported DeSantis before. This gave DeSantis the chance to come out and defend himself and let everyone know that he was not having secret meetings with Paul Ryan. We will see what comes of it.
Trump didn’t actually say he was running, just the announcement was going to make people very happy.

In the last couple hours, the senate moneyline on republicans has changed from -350 to -425. This means the probability of republicans winning the senate has improved from 78% to 81%. If this is the final outcome, then I believe Trump will announce his 2024 run for president.

Airing (republican) family laundry on a public forum isn't the way adults handle things. If Trump had issues with DeSantis, he should have dealt with it one-on-one. I've also ready somewhere (American Thinker, I think) that Trump was supposedly making a joke. If so, it wasn't funny. Regardlessy, Trump has made a course correction and publicly announced he supports DeSantis.

If Trump is planning on running in 2024, it wouldn't be in his best interests to publicly announce too early. Announced candidates have more limitations than non-announced possible candidates.

Reported on several news sites today; Trump threatening to tell tales on DeSantis like a schoolyard bully. From his own words, it sounds to me that Trump is definitely running. And he is feeling threatened by Ron DeSantis. https://www.businessinsider.com/don...information-florida-ron-desantis-2024-2022-11

Former President Donald Trump suggested on Monday that he would reveal unflattering information about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if the two men end up competing for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Speaking to reporters on his plane, a Boeing 757 known as "Trump Force One," the former president said he did not know if DeSantis would run against him, but suggested that doing so would be bad for both DeSantis and the GOP.

"I don't know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly," Trump said, according to Fox News. "I think he would be making a mistake, I think the base would not like it — I don't think it would be good for the party."

"I don't know if he runs. If he runs, he runs," Trump went on to say. "I would tell you things about him that won't be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife."

Maybe there's something we'd need to know. I've always thought DeSantis was sketchy.

And Trump isn't? I think there's plenty we might "need to know" about every elected official. It's simply Trump's lack of decorum and bully tactics that are disgusting.

That's why I didn't register as a Republican and vote for Trump in the Primary. Choosing between him and Hillary in the General was a no-brainer and, once he was elected, it turned out he was the best president in my lifetime. Most of the lack of decorum was highly exaggerated and driven by the media, which would refer to one tweet in a 24-hour period as a "tweet storm" - the same media that tries to pretend that everything is okay with Biden. As long as he does a good job, I don't give a damn about decorum, anyhow.

Having heard him with my own ears, I don't believe that the media exaggerated much when it came to Trump. I will always care when it comes to a charismatic, well-spoken and principled leader with exemplary social skills and personal integrity. Our country has lost its way in these times and we need a leader who displays a positive example. That does not include a doddering old man in mental decline nor a schoolyard tough guy. I keep asking, "is this the BEST we can do?" Sadly, it appears that it is.
