I totally agree with those who believe Oz a carpetbagger. That race was a definite "lesser of two evils" choice. I could never have voted for Oz; he's a creep. Not sure that Fetterman is up to the task but I suppose time will tell. I'd also not want to vote in GA... the choice between Walker and Warnock is a toss-up; they are both losers in my opinion.
Exactly; DeSantis knows that Florida's economy is based in tourism. Not so in SD. I'm still surprised that he went up against Disney, though.
I probably would have voted for Walker in Georgia, and I would have voted for the fine woman who lost the primary to Oz. I couldn't bring myself to vote for someone who couldn't speak either, no matter how sorry I felt for his situation.
I think going against Disney was what really put him over the top as governor. Voters realized he wasn't afraid of anybody.
There were six or seven states, and the ones I heard of were television ads. It was brought up on a news show, I forget which, but I know that it wasn't a wacky one. Running as Trump's VP would be interesting.
It's quite likely that Maine's governor did too, but it ruined countless Maine businesses. When I'm looking for a friend, I might consider intent, but I'm not interested in voting for someone who does the wrong thing for whatever reason. If DeSantis were to be the Republican nominee in the 2024 general election, I'll probably vote for him, but not enthusiastically. The best I could expect from him would be that he might be a bit like Reagan, known for good speeches but not really changing anything for the good.
I'm sure I'd have voted for Walker, simply because I want conservatives to have control of the senate. I wouldn't like it, though. I don't believe Walker is qualified, and I do believe he's a hypocrite when it comes to abortion. I watched Fetterman's speech late last night and he did surprisingly well. It seemed that the only problem he had was people yelling from the audience and interrupting.
Shenanigans went on again in Maricopa County, AZ. That always happens and this time one of the candidates for governor was the current person in charge of elections. She certainly wouldn't want to fix the corruption there, a little like trying to fix voter corruption in Philadelphia or Chicago.
Hi Don, control of the senate looks too close to call. Based on the latest Alaska voting for the senate, who do you think has the best chance of winning the Alaska senate seat?
No governing legal authority. -A. Gore I agree about out-of-state contributions for non-Congressional candidates, but as long as the Fed invades our lives in unconstitutional ways, I got a dog in those fights. Besides, there are so many work-arounds that one party will get away with whatever they want to do. Wasn't there a cynical observation that Obama's campaign took credit card contributions without using AVS, while he employed that technology when you bought hats & t-shirts?
Given the Democrats who are registered as Republicans in the Senate, like Romney, it probably wouldn't make a huge difference if the Republicans had a small minority.
Toss up. I expect Murkowski to win based on her past performance. She has most of the "Republican establishment" behind her as well as many Democrats. She buys Native votes with Federal dollars, and has a network of graft in the Bush that she probably inherited from her father who appointed her to the position originally. I don't believe the Republican Party backed her this time, so she may switch parties if the Senate remains in Democrat hands. Don't know. One commentator said if Tshibaka wins, it would be like getting another Republican in the Senate. The elections seems to reflect the growing division in the country, as the Red states seemed to get redder and the Blue states seemed to get bluer. According to the writings of some of the founders, America as such no longer exists, at least not as envisioned by them. To have a nation, there has to be a common interest and a common set of rules and morals. That doesn't exist any more. American citizenship has been reduced to being eligible for benefits, but obligations are not considered. Sounds like the end of the nation to me.
I posted how Trump didn't help t he 2022 election, and the word I was trying to put on Trump that people just can't or don't want to get around is "brusque"....he's just too too brusque for too many.
Don, in the attached image, Kelly is 44.3% and 94,120 versus Lisa and 90,990. Does this mean Tshibaka is winning the senate seat at this time? By the way, Republican Laxalt is ahead in Nevada 49.6% to 47.5% with 81% of votes in. Nevada is looking good if it holds up until called.
