Some of the more popular restaurants around here have shuttered completely or have cut hours severely because they can't find workers......Beth is absolutely right.
Politics seems more a game of chess for the world. They had plans to build a super highway from Mexico to Canada years ago and Texas stood up and in the way. The unbuilt wall is seen as a way to complete the plan. Canada has fallen. We are so stubborn.
In answer to the OP, when the American citizens became so dependent upon the Federal Government that we can no longer live our lives without its interference. It is a given that the 50 sovereign states need a center hub which unites us into a full fledged country under a singular, enforced, Constitution. Sadly though, that center hub is now treated as some kind of mother whose highly corruptible benevolence depends on its children’s response to the rules and regulations she imposes other than those set within the Constitution. The problem now is that we can’t turn back the clock. We do not send representatives from each state to Washington so they can represent the majority of their constituents but to hopefully act as a deterrent to how much impact the Government has upon each state. That said, when we see how much money those same representatives stash into their individual coffers, even the best hopefuls we send become dependent and are only figureheads who have sold their states into a sort of indentured servitude because we now somehow owe the Government.
