Not a rant really. Just a queer moment in time when I realize that questioning certain things isn’t worth the time to question them.

Like getting a e-mailed reminder for my upcoming pre-op for my eyes. Along with the reminder, I was asked to register for pre-op so I turned to the page and the first question asked what my e-mail address is.
Huh? So….ya’ll emailed me to find out what my email address is? Just about everything is already filled out on the form except my email and the space was blank but yet they obviously know what my address is because they emailed me.

I think I’ll wait for a while and see if they write back to insist that I fill in that blank.

You mean they didn't try to bill you 10 bucks for them writing to your email. They like to put those e-form to fill out so they can ... wait for it ! ..... contact you. Then on the last final page you would complete and hit the enter button you get a hidden message informing you that you now owe them 10 dollars. My Heart clinic tried that on me and I saw there was no cancel on the last page, a sure far trap that is illegal as hell., they still send me a bill even after I called billing and explained to them I am being billed illegally, they agreed and said not to worry about it, it is finished along with that missed appointment lie they also tried stealing 50 bucks. I never missed an appointment and canceled the last one in past December because they were making people sit in their cars until they came out and got you., I don't use private transportation and it really made me mad knowing I use the senior van, they don't wait for you. I canceled only when I got that recording from the thieves. Today there is more stealing and theft by clinics and Doctors than ever before. Especially if you have ssi, it is a given they have charged for things they do not do.

I have access to my phone calls made for December and it would not take much to prove I canceled that last appointment. They have all gone criminal after the virus trying to outright steal. I have not been back to that clinic and will never go to another large clinic. If I need a Heart specialist it will be a small clinic where people remember your name. I do plan on renewing my VA use for everything. I don't like them but as I get older it becomes extremely hard for me to drive somewhere and get my meds each month, plus the cost is just crazy now. Using the VA I pay nothing for meds and all I have to do is go online to my account and order my refills, them come direct to my PO 1st class mail and in my worst day I can make it to the PO two city blocks from where I live. They ask that you make one appointment per year to keep the meds renewed and see your primary care. I used that senior van quite a lot but it is just too rough and it beats you death because they bought the cheapest vehicle they could, all of which are apple and orange haulers, not people haulers. If you weren't feeling bad before they picked you up you were when you finally got home.

A bit of rant and reminisce. I think it is awful that I have to buy a calendar anymore.:D I remember years ago banks, insurance companies, funeral homes, churches, and every store in town was always handing out FREE calendars or throwing one in your purchase bag, whether you wanted one or not.:D Also, now some stores are charging for bags.o_O I was informed at Joanne fabrics and Sally's beauty supply that they are charging for bags if you want a bag to carry out your purchase. BS on that!

I use the interactive calendar on my iPad, and have not had a paper calendar for quite a few years now. I can add all of our doctor and other appointments , have several calendars with different color markers, and even have a gardening calendar, so I can remember what I planted and where and when.
It is much easier than when i tried to mark all of that in a regular calendar, or buy an expensive yearly planner.

We get free paper calendars every year. Not as many as we once did, but we still use them for planning purposes and it is easily accessible to both of us at a glance.

No one sends them to me but I still see them on the counters, for free, at the hardware store, and at least a couple of other places.

When our local hardware store was open, they gave away 2 separate types of calendars and I admit that it was rough choosing between them. I mean, one had featured some good looking bodies, chassis, bumpers and such and the other one was just a bunch of pictures of cars.

That's great! I need a calendar to remind me what day it is. Since retirement we never know what day it is anymore.:D:D

You are lucky too! I haven't seen any at the hardware store or any place else for years.

Charities of every nature send them to me, and I give them to churches for their Sunday Schools.

My phone, watch and computer always remind me of the day and date.

Bring in some oversized bags from their competitors and just walk around. "I'm just browsing...not sure if I'm going to buy anything or not."

Kirstie Alley's death today reminded me of this.

Why on earth is it that when someone with cancer dies, they "lost their battle???" No other affliction is deemed a battle... no one "lost their battle" with a heart attack, or diabetes, or a stroke, etc. Just as an example...

    battle.png

As a cancer patient, this infuriates me. It almost sounds like a criticism, like the cancer patient was just not trying hard enough so they "lost." Shoulda tried harder; you could have won! In case anyone is interested, it is not a battle at all. It's just showing up, being terrified, and hoping that the treatment works. UGH and GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.:mad::mad::mad:

    /end rant

I hate that so many that lived in my era are dying so young. This year has taken a toll on survivors that I flew with, 5 in my 121st ASHC. My family is very few now but my younger sister and her two daughters and theirs all have moved to the Fort Hood area because her only grandchild will be leaving the Army and he and his wife had their first born so they bought a house there around Fort Hood and Killeen Tx. I hope my sister fares well after losing her husband two months ago to a unexpected death in a simple outpatient clinic. I am glad she has family around her to keep her busy and knowing she is loved. I often remember my family that once lived here not far from where I live today. I basically have no personal friends but a couple cousins that I seldom see. I've got cats and lots of them. The 4 living outside are very pretty and high class and I see they have a warm place to sleep in the cold and plenty to eat. They are old enough to climb onto my Truck so they can peek inside my window to see what I'm doing, and also one sits on the trash can and peeks in. They hear me moving around sometimes around 4am and they all come to the front porch and patiently wait for the chow line to open. Usually a 3 course of canned meat, dry food and warm milk. On a good note the yellow tabby that belonged to one of the young girls in front of me came back after not seeing him for two weeks, I was afraid he had got killed but two days ago when I came back from shopping he was out there to meet me. I opened the canned food and put his on top of my toolbox in the bed of the truck so the little ones wouldn't bother him. He has always been a good friendly little cat. At one time there was a one eyed cat that lived around me and it would also come up and beg me for food and I always saw he ate good but then after about two years he never came back so I suppose he finally found peace and is enjoying an eternal summer warmth.
