Hoping that things straighten out okay for you, @Hedi Mitchell . Moving is never any fun, even when things are going the way that they are supposed to. Adding a prayer for safe traveling for you with your upcoming move.
Thing were easier when were were younger and just got a bunch friend together and sprung for pizza and beer. Friend: "Sorry I broke your coffee table, John." Me: "That's OK. I'll grab another pallet at work." I hope it gets done with few catastrophes, Heidi.
Our moves have gone fairly good. But, when we moved from CO to NC, had our truck transported there on a car carrier, the driver decided to stop at his house for a weekend, but didn't call us and tell us about the stop. Then, when we had our boat transported from Jacksonville, FL to here, the private owner didn't realize just how far it was from Jacksonville to northern Colorado. Thank God we didn't pay extra, but our boat wound up at the Boat/RV Storage fine and we got pictures of it sitting there. Don't know how our move will go from here to Vegas, but will be hiring a moving company like United Van Lines again and will also have to have our boat transported to Vegas. While my wife works during the week, I've got a nice start on packing things. All pictures on walls are down/packed. Hope things go better for you, Hedi. One thing is for sure, moving as an older Senior (us) isn't fun, but (for us) has to be done.
Finally have things squared away with the movers. Have been wondering why December 12 our move day kept ringing in my ear. Because on that day 5 years ago I almost died, and anniversary date of no more smoking. Different family members popping in this week as we finish packing. This move is really sinking in now. There will be so much to have done once there, between unpacking, starting up services, finding doctors, changing licenses, the list continues. Will not have much time for reading and posting. At the end of the day will read what I can to keep informed, but will save posts for later on. I see there are even more new people on here, so they should keep you busy. I love all my on line friends here, you have kept me going for 5 years. I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas, or Happy Holiday, take care, stay safe, live long and prosper in the new year.
We will be going all thru those moving things again next summer. Unfortunately, or fortunately, we don't have any family or friends to help us pack. I'm still do some packing while my wife works in our spare bedroom. We have a number of things already packed up, but definitely have some things that can't be packed right now.
Heidi, what kind of boat do you have and how are you transporting it to your new home? Will you have it in a Boat/RV Storage or at your home? We have to find someone to transport our boat (again), but this time to Nevada, and find a place there to have it stored (outside).
I hope the move goes smoothly for y'all, G. Take it easy and try not to be stressed... this is an adventure!! Check in when you can. Merry Christmas if we don't "see" you before then.
Quick log in before the internet service is cut off. Rain here and turning cooler again. Tomorrow the movers come but probably wont deliver until 12/14. We hope to leave tomorrow after truck pulls out, but depends on the time of day. Otherwise may have to get a room. Will spend the day getting last minute things done. Having some mobility issues but otherwise doing pretty good. I am still sad to leave our apartment of 10 1/2 years but, we will have way too much room later and a so much smaller rent to pay. Hope to get back with you all soon.
So glad to hear from you again, @Hedi Mitchell , and saying another prayer that all will go well with the actual traveling part of your move. I am sure that it has to be hard to leave what has been your home for all of these years, and happy that you will now have a whole house and more room to do what you enjoy once you are settled in. Do you think you will have a garden in the spring ………. Flowers or veggies ? Please check in as you can , even if just a brief message. Love and hugs , and safety on the road !
Thinking of you today, G. I hope the move went smoothly and you are safely at your new home. I'm sure you'll be busy for a while getting things organized.
