His dog was frightened and trying to get away from it - that's why the guy kicked the bot. This has got to be one of the most stupid things ever. Imagine a crowded pavement, mums with pushchairs, people in wheelchairs or mobility scooters. How about 'blind' people who won't see the darn things coming at them - how will guide dogs react ? ! From what little I've seen on video - these bots seem to move quite fast too.
I wondered what kind of Human Avoidance technology they have. I gotta believe it does not just blindly charge forward...I hope.
Personally, I think we put up with too much of this crap. For a short time, after cities and police departments were placing cameras everywhere, there were people coming up from behind to disable them with spray paint. I was hoping it was going to be a movement. Now, however, there are so many that anyone trying to disable a municipal or police department camera would be caught by another camera.
Around the 4 minute mark, this video shows a little of it’s avoidance systems. I notice that they stop at street corners and in one segment, a bot looked like it stopped for an oncoming pedestrian.
There was a series called “Person of Interest” that based it’s plot on a super computer and the near fact that there are cameras watching everywhere and everyone. The rest of the plot entailed the computer calculating who was going to be in some kind of trouble and the people who would go out and prevent whatever trouble the subject was going to be in. A pretty good show but a little scary in that there probably isn’t an inch of earth that can’t be observed.
My wife likes that one. I watched part of the first episode but I was distracted and annoyed by the boxes over everyone's heads. While I know what that was about, I guess I'm annoyed by the concept, as well.
Yes, I caught that on my second viewing. I just had a thought that I AM laughing about though. I wonder how long it will take before a certain political party will entertain the thought of collecting votes via door to door robots? It would certainly cut down on the number of people needed for ballot harvesting.
Did you notice the Jobs Report that came out today? 350,000+ new jobs added but the unemployment rate rose. That apparently means that part-time jobs are being used to replace full-time jobs. Most of the new part-time jobs are going to foreign-born workers. In the fine point, there are fewer native-born people employed. 30 million+ foreign-born workers now have jobs within the U.S. MSM is not reporting this as it belies what the Administration is putting out. The previous several months of earnings have also been adjusted down from +4.3% to -0.7% so they made an "error" of 5% in the earnings report and have now adjusted it down and hope you don't notice.
I just came across idiots at work 2 on youtube. There are a lot of compilations like this. Gets your mind off stuff.
I saw something about McDonald's considering closing all the stores they cannot automate due to some law recently passed by the California legislature that required a minimum wage of $22 with benefits and a career ladder. Don't know if it is true.
