I'm not big on Christmas lights in July, some tv commercials reflecting stupid people both sexes, loud motorcycles, churches trying to recruit at my door, customer service reps I can't understand, people who put flyers on my door and a few other things....
Know I am not supposed to say it, but the customer service reps we have the most trouble understanding sound as though they are calling from Mumbai! Frank
yep same here...and that's exactly where most of them are... it's cheaper for the Utility companies to employ staff in India than it is in the host country...but at the expense of the customer qeries or complaints where we all tear our hair out trying to make them or us understand strong dialectal accents..
Credit card companies, banks, retail customer "service"..............if I can't understand the person they're NOT helping me.
Chrissy, I don't know about gas, but we do have a choice for electricity suppliers. There are many! I've been using several over the past years,. When one goes up, I change to another. Granted, they are all close, but you can save a little. Call your supplier and ask. They have to tell you what your choices are.
I didn't know that, Ruby. My bill isn't that bad, what would it involve though? I always thought they were monopolies.
You can call PG&E, they MUST tell you if you ask what other companies there are and which of them is the least expensive to date.
Thanks Ruby, I'll check it out when I go home. Do you know if these other companies are as reliable, meaning will I have more power outages, etc?
Not sure how to answer but I know the lines are still maintained by the state company as well as the billing.
Let me know what you find out Chrissy as I'm pretty sure PG&E is our only choice. Lots of people are surprised to find out the San Joaquin Valley has one of the highest electricity rates in the nation. (I didn't google it to make sure but that's what I've heard) Because of this a lot of my neighbors are going to solar electricity but I'm not sure that will be a good deal in the long run or not. Oh, I just realized I might be getting off the subject of this thread. The electric bill is something I'm mad about but it is not a "little" thing that drives me up the wall, it's a BIG thing.
What makes me laugh is when people calling from Indian call centres tell you their name is Malcolm (honestly, one fellow did). I know some Indian people have Anglo names, but Malcolm? We also had two successive callers telling us that they were John and Paul. I told them I wanted George or Ringo next time.
Don't you have comparison companies you can check online, ladies..as we do here? We have loads.. ......for example.. http://www.comparethemarket.com/energy/#j4V8kxcmV1LHhVxo.97
