No thanks Mary we don't need more vines. We could use some help though, but we moved 100s of miles away from everyone. It seemed liek a good idea at the time 25 years ago. Something really is going on with the native trees and fauna here, lots of species have gone. I'm no tree hugger by a long shot, tree dragger maybe, but things are not right and gets worse with time.
Years ago my husband and I wanted to buy some acreage and move out to the boonies. For whatever reason we never did and now we are so glad we stayed put on our little residential lot. It seems like all we can do to maintain this yard nowadays.
We bought this place in 1998 then Jake broke his back in 2001 right before we were going to breed Rosie with our jack Pete for our donkey ranch I had named 'Sassy Ass Acres'.rural life is not for old people thats for sure, but we fake it.
As Marie goes for her morning walk each morning, and I follow on the golf cart, I always get a little nervous when we pass this tree leaning on the other one, because that's a lot of weight when it falls.
This morning again when we went by it still makes me nervous. No vine pulling on that one for sure but I do need to cut it down though.
I can't wait till tomorrow to get back to the vines while its cool, but last couple days are too 'cool' for me. I've saved many trees over the last 26 years here. At first it was just my donkey Rosie and I while Jake was at work, now its just me mostly and Jake if I need him for pole saw.
Its battery operated, works great for higher larger tree limbs that are dying. Or about to fall on the fence. Jake is always working on a auto or other things I can't do so I try not to ask him but the pole saw I haven't tried yet.
Those electric saws work really well and are lightweight too. We have one we bought a long time ago and probably could use it on vines like this one.
I got a small dose of vine lopping on my walk. I still have a few months of vine cutting to make another trail. I feel better.,
On my walk I see many more vines now that the winter has opened up the forest some. I also see many trees in danger of dying from vines. I cut a few this past week on my walk, but Jake needs to get out the pole saw to get some of the huge ones. I also started on a new trail path yesterday, just picked up fallen tree limbs and brush mostly and cut a few small vines.
I keep thinking how I should be happy as the brush provides lots of easy fire wood. But then I think about it. Easy?
