Why do I still ride motorcycles at an advanced (i.e., older than dirt) age? Look at what you might run into. Adventure: You're not too old for it if you're still alive. How often do you run across an M48 Patton tank out in the woods and get to pose your bike with it.
Old Timers' Wheels - GS + A Pose: Taken some years back at an area diner, two old timers pulled up on their favorite wheels - this old timer on a GS (i.e., the redhead) and the other old timer in his Model A pickup. Two beauties, one a classic and another a possible some time in the future.
Nice photo, John I see the old timer in Module A, but not the redheaded one. How many miles do you have on your bike now? You seem to really get around.
I hear in today's society riding is more dangerous than it used to be. I know 2 of our neighbors in their 60s sold their bikes in last couple years because it is so crazy out there. One's a forest ranger the other retired deputy.
The GS ( GS is the motorcycle model) is known and referred to as the redhead - a spirited and rugged, off-road lady who can dance with the best of them. As for mileage, it's somewhere around 75,000 miles I think. Truth is, I hardly think about or look at the mileage, just the maintenance indicators.
For some, whatever potential danger that might exist is outweighed by the enjoyment of riding coupled with the fact that a motorcycle can be far more agile than walking or riding in a car. The physics of accelerating, stopping, turning and avoidance can give you an advantage over that of a car (or pedestrian) if you are not stupid about how you ride it. Also, life itself is dangerous to the point that you won't survive it.
True about life and you do have a point. We should try to enjoy it as much as we can, while we can. You know the Jews consider not enjoying life a sin? I tend to agree.
Oh ok, now I get it, 75,000 is a lot of fun and enjoyment you've got to experience over time, and I've enjoyed the photos that you shared, letting me and others see what's out there to be enjoyed. Thanks, John.
Watching the Tyre videos today, where they beat him to death, reminded me of one of my experiences, with the law. One time when I was 23 yo, I drank a bunch of tequila and crown royal and decided to take my 750 Honda into town. Mistake, halfway there I laid it down in a gas station parking lot. Then as I was figuring things out, the cops showed up, and they commenced beating the heck out of me. Took me to jail and beat me some more in my cell. Went before the judge the next day, and after hearing my brother's opinion of how so many jumped on me and seeing how beat up I was, he gave me half my money back and said to take it to a higher court, you weren't done right, seeing how bad I had been beaten up by them. I didn't take it to a higher court, because I felt I was wrong too, for drinking. But I will never forget it, "that's for sure".
