Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitarists of all times, passed away on January 10, 2023 after a brief bout with bacterial meningitis. Beck rose to fame in the ’60s when he replaced Eric Clapton in the Yardbirds. He left a year later to start his own group The Jeff Beck Group, featuring Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as part of the Yardbirds, and inducted again in 2009 as a solo artist. He was also an 8 time Grammy winner. Last year, Beck toured with Johnny Depp, after the pair recorded a cover album together titled “18.” RIP
Jeff Beck was great and a master of the style of guitar he played. Speaking of all guitarists, that ever lived, of all genres, he might be in the top 100,000. Rock and Roll lost another great guitarist, that is for sure.
Listen to the Beck tune I posted. I play guitar and have listened to and been envious of lead players all my life. I should have specified 'lead electric guitar player' instead of implying overall ability. Certainly any of the professional classical players are a cut above any rock star. Are we a little more in tune now, Faye*? *women with their own opinions are a pita.
You are getting closer, but still, compare him to Mark Knopfler and several others that put a new meaning into lead guitar. I am not putting him down just saying when it comes to greats there are so many that it is impossible to say who is best or even how they place against others. The comment about women with opinions being a PITA certainly shows you don't grasp basic intonation. I have played all genres of guitar and all kinds of guitars for almost 60 years, but yet my opinions on guitarists cause you rectal discomfort. Maybe stop sitting on that orange traffic cone when you practice.
