Actress Raquel Welch, who rose to fame as a sex symbol of the 1960s, died Wednesday after a brief illness. She was 82. link Another icon gone. RIP
And, again, just like Cindy Williams, it was stated that "after a short illness", Raquel died. What the heck is a "short illness"? Anyway, RIP, Raquel.
I just read that she had some serious anxiety problems for the last few years. She had become totally reclusive.
I read an interview where she spoke of her first break by getting a part in "Fantastic Voyage." She had one line, and it was written on the scenery for her to read when it was time to deliver it. Obits refer to her as "...star of Fantastic Voyage." Regarding "Golden Globes" plural...I believe that Dolly Parton openly embraces that status.
When I hear of stuff like that, I think of people like Michael Jackson and how money can contribute to destroying a life. The rest of us have to get up every day and push through that stuff, thereby often conquering it...or at least it gets put into perspective relative to the other stuff we have going on. People with all that money can give in to it...they can isolate and build fences and gates (NeverNeverLand) and submit themselves to that which should not be surrendered to. That's not meant to diminish what anxiety can do to any of us, but I think fame & fortune does more to shrink one's universe than it does to expand it. Regarding obsession with causes of death: I shouldn't tease you. I do the same thing. I sit on the couch with my laptop as I watch legacy tv shows and read the biographies of the actors & actresses we all grew up with, and I always look to see how long they lived and what they died of...especially if they died younger than my current age. Someone passing while in their sixties (or younger) gets my curiosity up. Someone passing in their seventies also does...a little bit, but not as much. When folks hit 80+, my mind never goes anywhere but "natural causes," whatever that might mean. I guess stuff wears out.
Or Cause and Effect are being reversed...meaning the anxiety might have manifested itself in diminished physical health. Then they feed off of each other...and I'm sure you've seen. Effect becomes Cause. Any idea what her age was in that photo?
I’m pretty sure it was around 2021. I’m obviously not a female but I do imagine that losing one’s outer beauty can cause some problems especially if that beauty was what the whole world honored.
If Bobby's date guess is correct, she was ambulatory at 80, and out strolling on her own. We should all be so lucky.
Apparently that photo was taken 7 months ago. Still wearing higher-heeled shoes at 82. Wow. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ywood-siren-going-manicure-Beverly-Hills.html
