Technically I still teach (one private student) and no, it isn't scary in the traditional way.

But they were sticking probes into the brain and draining stuff out like copying data from a hard drive.

I prefer the "soft" way of information transfer ... that was just a little too Matrix-y.

How fortunate your method of bringing up kids produced such enviable results! Commend you, for however you achieved it. All too often, especially in my own family, and my wife's, kids, grandkids, even great grandkids, just won't be "bothered".

Disheartening, to say the least. Frank

Oh my gosh!!! That sounds sick and scary! Yes, I like the traditional way of teaching too. :)

They started with mice (of course - poor mice).

They would run a maze. Then they would stick a probe into the mouse's brain and somehow extract memories of running the maze. Then they'd wire that to another mouse and he would run the maze in record time.

If we could do that for humans we'd never need Goggle Map again!

I guess most of us want to leave a mark or be remembered at least that part of us that doesn't want to die and be forgotten does, our egos I suppose.

I believe we all leave a legacy in our children through our genes, or if we don't have children then through the many acts of kindness, we give to those we cross paths with during our lives.

We all get forgotten as actual people in a couple of generations, all that we can leave materially are fragments of our lives lived, my daughters for some reason are interested in my fathers WWII medals though they never knew him, and all the family photographs, I have a lot of junk that is of no use to anyone, which I need to get rid of really.
