Of course it's corrupt, and it keeps communities under the thumb of thugs and government. *********************************************From the article: Lawmakers in Maryland are considering a new piece of legislation that would literally decriminalize and absolve residents under the age of 25 from being charged with a felony and a myriad of offenses. Bill HB1180: ‘Criminal Law – Youth Accountability and Safety Act’ says that it would prevent people 25 and under ‘from being convicted of murder in the first degree,’ or ‘the perpetration or attempted perpetration of an additional crime listed under § 2-201(4)(i)-(xii) of the Criminal Law Article.’ A state agency released a “Racial Equity Impact Note” to furnish the public with an “analysis” of the measure: The bill would prohibit an individual under the age of 25 from being convicted of first-degree murder committed in the perpetration of or an attempt to perpetrate various felonies including carjacking, arson, burglary, rape, and various sex offenses. This [bill] could allow an individual who may have committed a murder while committing another crime as a juvenile or young adult to have an opportunity to be released at a more mature age and possibly rehabilitate. Accordingly, this would have a meaningful impact on individuals in this age bracket, particularly Black or African American individuals who generally face arrest for murder at a disproportionately high rate. ****************************************************** Of course, the majority of the victims of these "Black or African American individuals" and also "Black or African American individuals." But their lives and safety don't count to Democrats.
That sounds like the worst idea I have ever heard. It sounds as if you should murder all your rape victims. That way there is no one to testify against you for rape, and the murder wouldn't be a crime if you are young, an age when a lot of rapes and alleged rapes occur. What a stupid state to even allow someone to suggest such a thing.
There was a Congress Critter from Chicago whose grandson was slaughtered for his tennis shoes. The media never disclosed that point, calling it "random." That man spoke at his own grandson's funeral, giving passing accountability to the killers while primarily blaming a lack of "programs."
A clear case of prosecuting the wrong people. I would think one day all this nonsense if going to get a lot of stupid people kicked out into the real world. Some things are just so pathetic to hear from an adult.
There was a time in history that something like this happened. It was at the close of the civil war and crime was at an all time high for many many reasons. What happened due to not being able to stop crime was the birth of vigilantism. There wasn't any police force in the south after the close of the civil war so it was a terrible place to be living. Only thing the North provided was the carpetbaggers and the tax collectors, so the southern people took the task in hand and the crime levels dropped again. It might be a different setting but it certainly could turn into the rebirth of vigilantism should these idiots go completely cuckoo. Citizens would have no choice..
I think that is what the government is trying to provoke. Then we'll see Selective Enforcement of the "law."
The bill doesn't say they can't be charged with 2nd degree murder (30 years). Just 1st degree (life without parole). It makes good headlines though.
I lived right across the river from you for nearly 50 years. I especially avoided it in more recent years when the Maryland State Police started to pull over random Virginia CHP holders in a game of "gotcha."
It’s a game they love to play here and they will go out of their way to do it. Sheriff Chuck Jenkins is the only good thing we have going for us at the moment.
The Dems on our side enable it by giving Maryland State Police our CHP roles specifically for that purpose.
The families of the murder victims will have the last word on this proposal I suspect, at least I hope so.
