I've not heard of Mostaccioli, so I looked it up. Mostaccioli is a cookie and it's a baked pasta dish (with no apparent consistent recipe.)
It is not a cookie. It is a pasta dish that I am making. Mostaccioli is a type or variety of Penne pasta. I think the difference is the texture of the pasta; one is smooth and the other may have some ridges. The pasta dish can be baked, or the sauce can simmer on the stove for hours to blend the flavors then added to, or spooned over the pasta. My sauce is simmering on the stove now.
Interesting. I've not used that type of pasta before. Regarding simmering pasta sauce...I've put mine n a Crock Pot and let it go all day long. You're making me hungry...
I simmer my sauce in a crockpot sometimes too. Depends on my mood. There are a lot of recipes on food sites for Mostaccioli. I think most are baked versions. I prefer not to bake mine because then it tastes a lot like lasagna, to me anyway. Not that there is anything wrong with lasagna! I like that too. We like to spoon some sauce over the noodles and grate some fresh parmesan over it. I then have plenty of sauce left to freeze for other meals.
Except for spaghetti or mac n cheese, I make pasta dishes in my Instant Pot a lot lately. They turn out surprisingly well.
We went to the fitness center and I did my hour of swimming, so I am tired. I made a quick vegetarian taco salad and that was it for my dinner today. I think that Bobby has some of the beef that he cooked yesterday, and is having that for his dinner .
I've not eaten out in a few weeks. I might do Mexican, and get something cheaper than the $30 dinner I had last time. ยกAye chihuahua!
Italian food is on my menu for later tonight, am in the mood for lots of noodles smothered with Alfredo sauce, and a salad, and breadsticks, well my appetite is through the roof I think.
I don't think I have ever made an Alfredo sauce, and I hardly order it when dining our. But now you've planted a seed...
