Things that can go wrong with us as we get older. No medical advice, but just chat about the challenges of all sorts of bladder urinary issues. *Please delete if not appropriate topic for chat..
i mix some cream of tartar in water..drink about 16 oz...tastes like lemons...i do that like once a month..it cuts the yeast out of the urinary tract...
Theresa, this is sparking my interest so much, in all my years with bladder/urinary challenges so to say, I have not yet tried the mixture of cream of tarter. There are a 'variety' of things I give attention to, the probiotics, etc and some things are more beneficial than others. *I will be back, I have a question for you...
Overall for female UTI's if you have ever had one, then you know how miserable enduring one can be. There are natural remedies for treatment, and also antibiotics. Some OTC over the counter tablets can be of help with the onset of symptoms, works for some and not for others ...this is in my opinion of course.
When I saw my doctor for annual blood work last month, I was told I had a UTI. It was a total surprise to me because I had no symptoms at all.
Silent UTI's seems to be more common then the regular UTI's, as we get older. The symptoms are not the same. Fatigue, some aches, and slow thinking or memory problems are some of the signs. I had terrible UTI’s after menopause, which I have NEVER have had until then. I had a silent UTI about a year ago and I was shocked! I felt tired, a little achy and had fuzzy thinking, and I wondered; hum, a UTI? Nah. I did not have the usual symptoms. After about 3 days, I went to the doctor, and sure enough I had an UTI. Oh great!
Not to jump into the Girl Thread, but I had that happen once. I was seeing a urologist who did a culture on every visit. I had zero symptoms. This was maybe 2 years ago.
You can get the dipsticks on Amazon or at a local store that will help detect a silent UTI. They won't pick up every UTI but they will catch most. The ones that are most often missed are the staph and strep UTIs, which are uncommon and often missed in a doctor's office check.
Beth, that is curious isn't it, and also I've had that happen, but just twice, having no symptoms at all known to me at least. Now almost yearly since finishing menopause, I get one UTI yearly, natural treatments are a pure waste of my time, and in order to get rid of the diagnosed UTI, via labs and growing the urine culture two days to be sure. I opt for an appropriate antibiotic for my exact strain of UTI. With that said, trying to keep ones bladder healthy is in and of itself a challenge imo, at least speaking from my own bladder conditions and related things.
Same with me John, every urologist visit my urine is checked and ran. You had zero symptoms, but still had a UTI. I tell ya urinary issues can sure be a big pill to swallow so to say, I know because I have lived with a couple for awhile now. Many women rarely have urological bladder issues, I was, am not so lucky. The girls thread welcomes you
After years of retention issues, my bladder stopped working the end of last July. I've had a supra-pubic cath since Sept 1 and it's been a UTI/sediment blockage nightmare ever since with many late night ER visits. It's a 37 page thread with the SPC part starting on Page 24. I'll not take up your space here with it. Suffice it to say that I never had a UTI in my entire life (except for one kidney infection) until urologists started laying their hands on me.
Hi Krystal, gosh the symptoms can be so similar yet different for each of us, yeah Menopause, was no walk in the park for me that is for sure. UTI'S they can cultivate themselves into a dangerous situation if not treated. Glad we all have the options of following up when we have symptoms and tending to things before they might escalate.
