Biden is a terrible president. During his watch, 13 of our military died needlessly in a botched withdrawal, inflation has skyrocketed and the southern border is wide open, yet the Democrat voters will still vote to keep him in office if he runs again. Why? I found some Yale studies that explain if you have time to read. https://news.yale.edu/2020/08/11/study-americans-prize-party-loyalty-over-democratic-principles https://isps.yale.edu/research/publications/isps03-004 https://news.yale.edu/2003/11/18/people-vote-their-party-not-their-personal-beliefs To be honest, some Republicans could fall in the same category, so we all should reflect on our motives for pulling the lever.
I'm somewhat glad that I'm an independent; to me both parties are nothing but self-serving entities. We need politicians that actually care about America/Americans. I'm definitely conservative leaning but I'd never be a Republican. The two-party system has outlived its usefulness.
We're kinda stuck with a two-party system, since our form of government doesn't lend itself well to coalitions like a parliamentary system does. They are not the same two parties, however. We started with the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalists, then the D-Rs were replaced by the Democrats and the Feds were replaced by the Whigs. The Whigs were replaced by the Republicans. I suspect the number of Independents will continue to grow, and both major parties will split and form two new parties, with perhaps and interval when three parties exist for a while. We will come back to two parties if the country doesn't disintegrate before then.
I am wondering about whether he will prevail. Robert Kennedy Jr is ramping up. Older Democrats may still remember his uncle, President Kennedy.
Many Dems are mostly “Not Republicans,” just as many Republicans are “Not Democrats.” Divide & Conquer, baby.
If Robert Kennedy Jr. is like his father and his presidential uncle, he will be a far-right radical Republican running under the Democrat banner because of his surname. Dems won't care what he stands for as long as his name isn't Trump. He could be Satan himself.
I think that Trump still has the huge majority of supporters, but if he is not able to run for some reason, I think that it is anybody’s guess how the election would go. As an independent, I would vote for the person I thought cared most about America, regardless of which party he ran under, and i think that many other independents might also do the same thing. We are loyal to our country, not a specific political party.
Lots of us vote for the lesser of two evils. I originally was voting for Trump because of his opponent. But Then liked what he stood for
Just in case I haven’t mentioned it recently, I HATE political parties, tribalism at its glorious worst.
