All along the Gulf Coast in the southern states, azaleas are everywhere. I love all colors, even the white ones. I think @Nancy Hart posted a picture of a light pink azalea bush recently that her mother planted. They seem to do particularly well when near pine trees; I recall my mother raking pine needles to mulch around her azaleas.

Yesterday I planted a dwarf date palm; hope I don't regret it later. This thing has some monster thorns. I read that I need another one if I want to produce fruit... but I don't.

    Good afternoon to all-
Date palms make an attractive enough bush, but be aware of those thorny palm fronds- very sharp and will grab you when you pass by. Date palms are pretty sensitive to winter chill and they won't take too much cold.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

Photo found of my Montauk Daisy I always enjoyed this plant because it was the last perennial to bloom, many years it lasted to November.

    deciduous azaela.jpg

This is a deciduous azalea a few doors away from me in my condo community. It's sideways. It's from last year; they're not blooming up here yet.

I believe this type is the only azalea with orange or yellow blossoms.

Tony, it is a deciduous azalea bush. The blossoms look bigger than they really are. :)

One thing I miss about spending time on the coast, is not seeing the azaleas. I use to go to the memorial day azalea festival in Brookings every year. It was just awesome.
