I was born and raised in East, actually in the city of Alcoa which is very connected with fluroidation. So for many yrs I and family all consiumed tap water and it was fluoridated.... When I came West ran into a lot of people working to clean up city waters and to even STOP fluoridation. I got on board. In the 80's the fluoridationists won their battle and our city council (with pockets open) let it happen here....Talk about pissed... So I went for years being in the battle for clean water and lost the battle...to this day I DO NOT BELIEVE fluoride should be added to public waters....it is waste from the lead and fertilizer industries... So now full circle and at my late age, I'm exhasted "fighting the battle" and use tap water... I've been told over many yrs fluoride attacks the thyroid and one needs to be aware of that...I do take iodine a few times weekly and also thyorid supports. I'm sure many here live with Well Water, but let me hear your water issue....
We have an under sink reverse osmosis unit, good for up to 4 gallons/day. I just really did not like that taste of our tap water. The R.O. system we have is pretty basic but has worked well. There’s a mineral cartridge in the last phase to add a few minerals back in for taste but it’s much better than it used to be. We buy no plastic water bottles, instead ordered a bunch of rubber coated, screw cap glass bottles from Amazon, fill them from the R.O. unit and refrigerate them until needed.
A friend rented an RO system from Arrowhead yrs ago but not long ago bought an RO system at Amazon, we gotta get good minerals....and drinking cold water is not the best but do what you need to do. The guy last night on C2C said to fill a lot of bottles and keep them "in case" disaster hits us.......
R.O. removes ALL minerals, good along with bad ones. https://mayuwater.com/a/s/community...mosis-filtered-water-cause-mineral-deficiency
I never gave much thought to the fluoride debate. We have fluoride in our water and I've never had a cavity in my teeth, so I guess that's one good thing. I drink a lot of water and we also keep several cases of bottled water on hand during hurricane season. We use no special filtering beyond the one installed in our refrigerator water dispenser.
Ummm, no cavaties, that is remarkable. No sugars carbs etc either I guess... if that is not the case what is it? I have had many cavaties, lots of fluoride and lots of sugars and carbs in my life. No cavatiers in last 20 or so years....so I'm thankful.,
We have a reverse osmosis system under our sink too. We did not like the taste of our city water neither. With the system, it removes all chemicals. It is pure water and it tastes so refreshing. I’m sure the fluoride might help prevent cavities. I still have all my teeth but they have some fillings. I grew up in the country drinking cistern water. We did not get a lot of sweets and my parents took us to the dentist twice a year religiously, and we still had cavities. The only explanation I got for getting cavities is that we drank cistern water.
I don't know; I just have sturdy teeth and still have all of them. Never had one pulled or anything, and still have my wisdom teeth. A few years ago I had a bit of receding gum over a canine tooth that I had to see a periodontist for a deep cleaning. I eat plenty of sugar and carbs so that doesn't seem to affect me, except my waistline if I don't watch it. Unfortunately my husband was not so lucky and we have spent a small fortune on the upkeep of his mouth.
From the research I have read, fluoridation is good for children and young adults, as it strengthens tooth enamel and that lasts for most of a lifetime unless you undergo chemo or some other process that depletes enamel. Unfortunately, it is not good for older people, especially women, as it makes bone more brittle and makes osteoporosis worse. Hip fractures are much more common in cities with fluoride in the water.
Oh yes, I went thru one of the big anti fluoridation battles in the 80's, Dr. Connett and his followers and before him there were many anti F people and they are dead...the fight has been going on a lot of years. One negative is lowering IQ',, The waste industries make tons and tons of do re me on this waste. Connett and his lawyer son even sued the EPA about 7 yrs ago but was able to lose..what else is new, can't sue the govt and win. My city water isn't bad tasting and I'm getting used to it now, not buying anymore bottles of water. R O is essentially dead water.
