Sorry to hear about your hubs. Did the doc suggest an endoscopy? The thing about the endoscopy is it doesn't require a radical cleansing. I sure hope it isn't anything serious and easy to treat.
Thanks, G. You know how these men can be!! (I'll say again if men had to have babies we'd be extinct by now. ) Are y'all pretty well settled in to being "Kansans" now? How are you liking the new house, and are y'all still planning a little garden plot? Thanks, Faye. No, the doc didn't suggest an endo; hub had one of those fairly recently (at the same time as his colonoscopy.) Besides the fact that the pain and discomfort are in his abdomen, so I don't suppose an endo would be indicated. I hope it's not serious and easy to treat, too. Hope you're not overdoing it with the yard work.
@Beth Gallagher yes we are settled now. Was 4 mos here on the 12th. Mark has a huge garden going, and he is constantly, doing yard work We still have our seedlings growing i spare room. Wish we could get rain. All the rain since we have been here goes totally around us. We do like it here, but still getting use to some things.
I think it's fantastic that Mark is putting in a garden and sounds like he's enjoying the yard. I love puttering around our yard, at least until the summer heat hits. It's great that y'all like your new home; I'm really happy for you.
I'm sorry about your husband not feeling well. Did any pouches show up on his colonoscopy? They did on my last one nearly 5 years ago, and I had my first bout of diverticulitis last December. I think the pain for diverticulitis has a specific location....lower left abdomen. It was painful when even the slightest pressure was applied. If the RX is an antibiotic, I imagine that's the way the doc is leaning. I can't believe he can't get a CT scan for a month & a half. I guess I need to stop complaining about the systems here...I would have had my CT scan within days but for a contrast allergy that requires they do it in the hospital. Even at that, it only took a week. Six weeks is an inhuman length of time to wait. Maybe they did not rush his case if his poopies are ok (meaning there is no blockage.) My blockage was moderate, but showed up on an x-ray. I hope the meds kick in fast.
Thanks, John. I asked him about the colonoscopy report and if it mentioned diverticular disease but he didn't know and the doctor didn't mention it. I have read that diverticular pain is usually lower left abdomen but can be on the right side as well. The medication is Dicyclomine, which is an anti-spasmodic used to treat IBS. His scan is April 24 which is 9 days from now.
True. The imaging center said they were booked solid, so I suppose since he's not an emergency situation he just has to wait in line. I don't like his doctor(s) or the facility he goes to (Houston Methodist), but he's satisfied with them. He prefers to stay out in the 'burbs at a smaller facility so this is what he gets.
Is your hubs doing any better with the medication? I hope so as chronic abdominal pains can be extremely unpleasant. Is he gaining any weight back? Has he changed his diet any and if so, has it helped.
He seems to be doing OK but he's not a complainer so it's hard to tell. His appetite has improved a little but I'm still keeping his menu kind of bland. I'll be glad when we get the scan done to find out what's going on in there.
Today's a bleak and overcast, rainy day. I've been sitting around reading and sipping coffee. I'm glad that we will be getting my husband's CT scan done tomorrow, though he says he's feeling better. I still want to know what they see in there. Yesterday my husband brought me this purple orchid; I have never seen one this color. It is HUGE; over 2' tall. I love these little surprises.
It's a cool-ish day and not much going on around here. I piddled around in the yard and pulled a few weeds, then transplanted the poblano and cucumber seedlings into larger containers. I have ordered a free-standing Aerogarden grow light and a table to put it on so that I will have more room for experiments. Aerogarden's website was having a good sale so I ordered more vegetable pods, too. My husband had the CT scan today but we won't get any results for a few days. He seems to be feeling better so that's a relief. My bonus granddaughter (son's stepdaughter) is starting nursing school and moving into her first apartment soon. Since we are planning to sell the motorhome this summer I told her to come and get all the household items out of the RV. There are dishes, pots & pans, small electric appliances, bath linens, rugs, a vacuum cleaner...you name it. All of it is "practically new" since we only took a couple of RV trips a year. This should give her a good start on setting up her apartment and I'm glad someone will get some use out of the things. I was dreading moving all that stuff and trying to find someplace to store it so this problem is solved!
