My back is stiff when I wake up but sleeping in other ways puts pressure and stress on other areas....
Interesting info. I sleep in every position there is, except on my stomach. Some of my best sleep though many years ago was on my stomach. It is not a comfortable sleeping position for me any longer.. I move a lot when I sleep, not a quiet/or still sleeper...
I have to sleep on my back too but I have pillows under my knees and a couple under my head so I’m not really flat. I can sleep on my right side after about 2:00 AM. If I try it earlier I’m likely to have reflux. Left side is bad for reflux any time. I don’t try to sleep on my stomach because it arches my back too much.
I have always been a side sleeper (I toss from one side to the other), although sometimes I might do a few minutes on my back. Never on my stomach.
Side sleeping was always my best but not now, shoulders get so stressed and the hip replacement side no can sleep on that side......
I sleep on my right side with my right hand tucked under my head between 2 pillows. But when I wake up I'm all over the place tangled up in my duvet (•‿•)
I start out on my back, but that's mostly because I'm reading. Soon, I move to my side, usually with one leg bent, and switch sides periodically throughout the night.
Having also thought about what direction I sleep, north, south, east or west? I find it interesting that my head is always pointing North, whatever that might mean.
Like this, except NO pillows. For lots of reasons (long story). I think I switch sides at least once in the middle of the night. The extended foot has to dangle over the bottom edge of the bed. It takes up a lot of space.
I have to start out on my stomach, but I end up everywhere but hanging from the ceiling fan before morning. I think I'm part Whirling Dervish with a dash of tornado thrown in for levening.
I do quite a bit of thrashing around, too. I used to always sleep on my stomach but now I'm all over the place. The only constant is that I have to have one foot outside the covers; that's my "thermostat."
