Such a pretty kitty. I haven't met to many cats that I don't like, except maybe those hairless cats. Sweet cats, but...
Speaking of Tortie, our little rescue above, I have to ask about her completely bizarre (to me) behavior. Just so you know, she’s not a problem, eats well, always good with the litter box, very affectionate, loves to be rubbed and talked to, head butts and head rubs all over the place, many times just sits near by and purrs quietly. The problem is I feel bad for her despite the fact she appears perfectly content. The issue, she spends about her entire life in about 8 square feet of space, the top of the living room loudspeaker where she most often sleeps, the coffee table a few feet from that, and near the water dish which is close to both of the other two favorite places. She will walk the 20 feet or so and back to use the litter box. She has no curiosity whatsoever about any place else. In fact, in the nearly 5 months we’ve had her, she has never once set foot on the stairwell to downstairs despite that we are down there every evening and I know she likes our attention. She has no interest in the other two cats except to start issue warnings if they get too close. She seems to have no interest in play. She just doesn’t seem interested in anything but getting attention (from anyone!), eating, and sleeping. Do any of you have any experience with such behavior? We’ve had several cats over the past 25 years and this one is just a mystery. The rescue place thinks she is 7-8 years old, had been an indoor kitty at one point and then got dumped outside. I have been picking her up off the coffee table, resting her on my stomach and giving her scratches and rubs, thinking I could convince her to move 2 feet closer and be on the sofa with us. Nope! It’s almost like she gets panicked to get back to her coffee table. It’s so strange. The pic of in the toy box (a rarity and the reason I snapped it) is most likely because it is right next to the water dish. She curled up a few minutes later and went to sleep in the toy box but only did it that once.
