There are a few podcasts from people who play games with scammers. These two are particularly funny. If you watch these, you'll love them. You might want to watch them on a larger screen, though. The film themselves interact with scammers after answering a phishing email or another attempt to scam them and drive them nuts. The scammer is trying to get the guy, who he believes to be a 79-year-old woman, to allow him access to her computer and bank account, and he pretends to play along. The big screen is nice because then you can see what he is doing, like pretending to be confused and clicking on the wrong buttons. It's long but you don't have to watch it all. You might want to, though, because it's hilarious. There might be a bad word or two, however.
My hubs keeps getting a call from the same scammers even to he has blocked previous numbers they call him about our electricity account being over due …..and about to be disconnected ….the trouble is the electricity account is in MY NAME Not his .. He got another call from them yesterday and he told them he lives in a nursing home so they better call the service desk ….and they hung up on him
That “old lady” had very quick wit ..coming up with all sorts of reasons not to buy the “government “ gift cards / Visa cards X4 Ken … thanks for posting I got a giggle from the video My hubby used to lead the “Microsoft” scammers along, he’d go along with them till they asked if he even had a computer and hubs would say …NO ..never used one. …
Remember when all we had to worry about was an occasional obscene call or some kids asking if our refrigerator was running? Ah, the days before cellphones and caller ID. One evening years ago I had gotten home from work, kicked my shoes off and started cooking dinner. The phone rang and it was some weirdo, trying to impress me with his sexual blather. I told him, "can you call back later? I'm trying to cook dinner right now." He hung up on me.
When the phone scammers used to call live, I would stop them and demand their credit card number since they had reached my private line that charges $500 minimum plus $100 a minute.
This is a different one, but he has a team of hackers who get into the scammers' computers and delete files while the scam is going on. Again, scammers use some very bad language once they realize they've been scammed.
