It seems that everywhere we go and whatever we see, we will always see women who dress sexily.
Take movies , for example. All of us are aware of such women as , Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Raquel Welch, Lucy Liu, Farrah Fawcet and on and on. Those women have made their names, and fortunes, by devoting their lives to being "sex symbols".

It is easy to understand why movie directors "play up" sex symbols. Sex sells.

In the western culture and most of the rest of the world, billions of dollars are spent by women who buy sexy clothing, and untold billions of dollars on "beauty aids". There is a reason why salons for women are called BEAUTY SHOPS. I can't say what percentage of women attend beauty shops, but the figure must be quite high.

It seems to me that women, in general, devote much energy, time, and money on making them selves as beautiful as they can. Sure, there are exceptions to that rule. Especially when they start to age and have given up the beauty goal.

AND, women's clothing. My God, Is there ever any end to how many outfits/shoes that women buy. A few years ago, I saw an article that said Dimi Moore"s hotel room had been burgularized and $12,000 dollars of clothing was stolen

What interests me is the question of why so many women, especially younger women dress so sexy. Think about it. If you go to the mall, you can't help but notice women who are wearing ultra tight jeans and "yoga pants. Jeez, it looks like they have been melted and then poured into those costumes. And that is not all. Think about all those extremely low cut tops that women wear.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm NOT suggesting that those women are in any way "loose women". But I would like to know why they dress so hot. What do they get out of it ? Hmm ?

What got me thinking about this ???? I had been watching a movie and the main female character said, "We are not sex symbols". Oh ? Really ? Then why do millions upon millions of women go to such trouble to be exactly that ?

Whether a woman is dressed "sexy" is all in the eye of the male beholder. Granted some female movie stars and models dress for attention and to advance their careers or some just to try to outdo others with exotic styles, however these stars do not represent all women nor the reason they dress the way they do.

I have always dressed for whatever I was doing. For ranching and construction work, it was long sleeve shirts and full leg relaxed fit denim jeans and that was year around. After work on warm days, it was cutoff jean shorts and halter tops or a crop wrap. For beach volleyball it was a sports bikini. Since I have lived by myself nearly all of my adult years, I dressed whatever way I pleased and was comfortable. I seldom wore makeup or jewelry. I never dressed to look sexy or be fashionable and still don't.

All this sexy talk is about someone making money mainly men. Nearly all the top women fashion designers are male even though many identify as female. I submit that most of the modern women's fashions are to appeal to males that are light in their loafers and want to wear these "sexy" latest fashion clothes that they think might make them female.

Sorry Charlie but there is more to being female than whacking off your thing a ma jig and donning skinny jeans.

My wife doesn't dress "sexy", but both of us love the way she looks in Western attire, including a black felt or straw cowboy hat.

Women will hate me for this but it is true..women dress for other women's approval, not so much men.
My reason in, part because women are more critical of style and dress.

No hate from me, I think you are spot on and especially with Hollywood stars and elites that want to make other women envious.

As I said, in the opening post, NOT ALL WOMEN DRESS SEXY. However, many do. For example, we don't have to look far to see female sports figures wear tight fitting "bikini-like" bottoms that are little better than a tiny thong.

It's all part of the mating game whether there's awareness of it or not. Guys get the same way. In high school and afterward we worked out, and in the evening, we would go out in a short sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up to show off our guns.

You are probably correct. A big difference, however, is that men are much, much more attracted to sexy women than women are attracted to men's bodies. Women know this and take full advantage of it.

That's an entire topic all unto itself.
I'm not sure I agree, but I'm not sure I disagree. And I'm pretty firm on that position.

Think about this. There are literally thousands upon thousands of bars that have skimpy clad girls on stage in most cities of the world. men throng to these places . BUT, you will not see a similar bar for women. Yes, there are a few clubs where men are dancing on stage , BUT those bars are for gays, not women.
The same is true about magazines. many "Gentleman's magazines" , but I can't think of a single similar magazine exclusively for women.

In my opinion, it is a very rare woman who gets sexually excited by seeing semi-nude men.

PS; I make no value judgement about women who dress sexy. My only question is WHY they do so ?

The actress Mae West once said, "I dress for women. I undress for men."

I worked with a group of women who went to a male strip joint with a group of friends (The Hangar Club.) Those of you who live in Maryland may have heard of it. It may have been a bachelorette party, or maybe just something to do. I shall not repeat the things I heard on Monday morning. I had no idea a guy could do such things...his name was "Star." Michelle seemed like such a nice girl. Illusions were shattered.

I imagine The Hanger Club was a gay bar. It is most unlikely that a male strip joint could ever be successful if it depended upon women for its livelihood. But, I could be wrong.
