I ordered two nail starter and set tools---one for 1/32" nails and one for 2/32" nails. Good News: Amazon order arrived today, on Sunday!!! Bad News: Instead received two of the 2/32" tools. I sort of had a feeling this was going to happen. They are too interested in rushing things, imo. They don't have an option listed for returning a part of an order. To complicate matters, it looks like one has a different bar code on it. Maybe they would rather I return both and order both again? I have a sinking feeling they will get it mixed up again if I try. I hate returning things. Think I'll just suck it up and order a 3rd one after I try this one. May not like it anyway. Anyone need a 2/32" nail starter and set?
I've never seen those, Nancy. I've always used a solid nail set. Now I want one. Here's a 22 second vid: Regarding rationalized fractions...I just looked, and 3 piece nail sets come in 1/32", 2/32" and 3/32". I have never seen any tools or hardware sized by non-rationalized fractions like that, but everyone's nail sets are. It's very odd.
Good news. I opened one package, and 2/32 it is just what I need. The 1/32 would be too small. Years ago I found teeny tiny 1/4" quarter-round molding. Put it at the back of all the steps going upstairs to cover a crack. 1/32 would have been perfect for that. ( How did I have time and patience to do that? ) I'll just keep the other one in case I break one. Or, if you want it, I'll send it to you. It pulls easy. I got so excited, I bought some cove molding today to try another window.
I appreciate the thought. I have so many single-application gadgets that all come in handy...every few years. When I hear "nail set" I think "countersink," not "drive." They outta be called "thumb-savers." And I can imagine what nailing all those tiny brads into a corner-round must have been like. You couldn't even get a pair of needle-nose pliers in there I bet. At least it was easy to cut to length...a steak knife would be sufficient.
Toe nail and fingernail clippers. Plus a new tweezer to snag that elusive long hair on the chin or the cheek that go unnoticed, until you turn a certain way and the light hits it just right.
What everyone needs... crumpet molds. My next adventure in baking will be crumpets or English muffins.
I bought similar rings to make ciabatta rolls. I just looked up a recipe for crumpets. I had no idea they were not baked.
I have similar rings for making round fried eggs but they are silicone and I only have 2 of them. I also have biscuit cutters but they are all different sizes. So, more junk for the kitchen will be arriving soon from a Prime truck near me.
I may have mentioned I bought a 24" length of pvc pipe and cut a dozen 2" tall rings out of it for the ciabatta buns to rise in (because the dough is so loose it spreads like a pancake.) They rose fine, but when I'd take the rings off (because you can't put pvc in a hot oven) and put the buns in the oven they spread anyway. I saw the silicone rings, but if I recall correctly, it would have been expensive to buy enough to make a dozen buns...or maybe I couldn't get the right diameter/height. I was gonna make a crack about round eggs, but I guess that's what you'd want to do so they fit the muffins. (Costco has some nice Canadian bacon.)
I have no idea why I own two of those silicone egg mold things. Another random must-have I suppose. I use them occasionally to make a fried egg that will fit on a hamburger bun with cheese and Canadian bacon. One of my husband's favorite sandwiches.
