Several years back I was sitting on a bench outside Walmart when a young man also sat down at the end of the bench. We happened to strike up a conversation. I don't recall how it turned to WW2 and I mentioned D-Day, and I was shocked to discover that he had never heard of D-Day. Jeez, what in the world are they teaching in schools now ?

Has anyone watched the amazing D-Day chronicle on YouTube? Here is the link to it. It is 24 hours long and chronicles all the stuff that went on in an hour-by-hour retelling. I am only a few hours into it.

The battle of Midway was not only a great victory for the Americans, it crippled the Japanese. navy. Prior to Midway, the Japanese navy never lost a battle. After Midway they never won a naval battle.

June 6, 1944. D-Day. This picture is of the first part of the Normandy invasion.

The actual numbers have changed over the years, with the Allied dead usually being quoted as about 2,500, but the US National D-Day Memorial Foundation has recently gotten the most accurate numbers, after recording the names of every Allied individual killed on D-Day.

That 2,500 figure is likely to be about right for Americans, BUT it does not include 1,500 Brit and another 400 Canadians

Taking a wider view, during the Battle of Normandy over 425,000 Allied and German troops were killed, wounded or went missing. This figure includes around 210,000 Allied casualties, with nearly 37,000 killed amongst the ground forces and a further 16,000 deaths amongst the Allied air forces.

And this is being buried along with statues. The true HORRORS of war fought for us ( and others not) That is probably why younger generations don't have a clue or fear the prospect of war being caused by a president and all those who will make money from it.

Caused by a President ? I imagine that you are referring to WW2 ? If you are, may I remind you that WE were attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor, Dec 7th 1941 where 2,100 U.S. servicemen were killed. Moreover, it was just a few days later, when Adolph Hitler declared war on the United States. FDR had no choice but to defend America.

However, you are quite correct that some men do make huge profits by supplying war materials.
The single most costly item was the B-29 heavy duty, ultra long range bomber designed and manufactured by Boeing Corporation . The final cost ? Nearly 3 billion dollars. Even more expensive than the Manhatten Project which built the atomic bombs.
