Well, all I can say is that when people use armed violence in an attempt to overturn an election and are convicted of sedition, the sentences seem correct. The Jan 6th riot was not just an attack on some out of the way county court house , but an attack on the very center of American government. They needed to be made an example of. If they had merely peacefully protested, they would now be free to voice their opinions. PS: I'd feel this way no matter what political party was involved... Democrat OR Republican.

Oh, come on. Are you suggesting that no film of the riot would have been shot if the rioter's were Democrats ? There was no bigger story that day. There were literally dozens of news reporters present that day. From what I have seen, filming began long before they even started marching to the Congressional Building. Also. much of the film was shot from security cameras both inside and outside the Capitol Building.
If it were Democrats, we would have been told that the protest was mostly peaceful. If you've paid any attention to real news over the past few years, you'd know that. I know what I saw on all those films. I saw people beating Capitol police bloody and forcing their way passed and through Capitol police, and I saw them mashing windows and I saw them flooding into areas that were off limits to the general public. And I saw them inside Nancy Pelosi's private office. That is defined as insurrection. Since then, I saw film of the trials were they showed the above , PLUS much ,much more violence. I can't imagine what else I'd need to see in order to form an opinion ?

Trump WAS a Democrat for most of his adult life. He saw what was happening in the U.S., Just as others have seen what is happening in Europe, and decided to try to stop it.
Like many other potential politicians, Trump likely saw an opportunity to gain power. So, he switched. Nothing new in that. In the beginning of Trumps run for power, I supported him. Moreover, I continued to support him right up until he egged on the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers which resulted in the Jan 6th riot. Did Trump actually say, "Go to the Capitol Building and riot ?" NO ! Of course not. However, by insisting on the election being STOLEN , he certainly fanned the flames of insurrection. IF the electoral votes were wrong, there are other ways of correcting errors. Violence is NOT the answer.

This was a stupid demonstration and, unlike those of the left, nothing was burned, there was minimal destruction, and people were not attacked if you exclude the one unarmed woman murdered by an over zealous security guard.
