I have noticed birds hanging around my side livingroom window. So I go over to take a close look about an hour ago and .... I have no idea what the hell they want over there but .... they have destroyed my screen. They have "pecked" ? the bottom of the screen so much, that it has become detached all across the bottom & is now usless.

Anyone know of a [humane] way to make them go-away ?

The bush is a 'burning bush' I guess it has some berries on it that they eat, but I do not understand the pecking at the screen ??

Of course when I pulled the blind up ... even with the window closed they scatered ... but I'm sure they will return.

Little buggars , now I need a new screen ........ or I could just take it out , as I seldom open that window.

I bet they're pecking to get at bugs.

That was my thought too. Maybe a spider hatched eggs and the little ones were all over the area.

Check the window casing for termites.

Maybe you could trim the bush back so it's not touching the house (making a pathway for insects) and clean any dead leaves & debris from around the base of the bush.

From another website: Chances are, if you have a burning bush on your property, you will at some point have to contend with spider mites, which can be a big issue for the plant.

So that's what's likely attracting the birds. The site said to just use a strong water hose spray to knock the mites off of the bush..

I agree with the "bug" opinions. The window frames are vinyl and fiberglass. So again I agree with the bugs on the bush opinions.

So now I have to look into getting the bush cut back.

Maybe I'll just go without the screen @ that window. I like to open the windows in [nice] weather, but we almost always go straight to hot & humid .... which means A/C so ?

We have territorial birds which attack their reflection in the windows. Even humming birds. But we don't have screens on most windows . They eventually give up after mating season.
