one of the benefits, there are some 40 benefits but I don't think you want me to post them all. I found in a long list of WD40 uses, and one is "good to lubricate prosthetic limbs".... I have to liken those limbs to those in joint replacements that millions opt for for decades.....and these parts I believe have got to get STIFF.... Wondering if the WD40 sprayed on say the knee joint(s) would cause we humans damage. I've thought of WD40 over the years and then get the fear fear fear thing ,,the main ingredient in WD40 is Fish Oil. WD 40 could do some damage to pharma profits.... what a miracle for sure for we humans..... Pharma fights like Hell just like Biden et al. j m
I would not recommend that anyone apply WD-40 to their skin. Nor would I recommend that anyone use it in a non-ventilated area. There have been emails going around for a very long time that WD-40 contains fish oil, but there is nothing in fact to support that...the lubricants are all petroleum-based (LVP Aliphatic Hydrocarbon, Petroleum Base Oil, Aliphatic Hydrocarbon, Carbon Dioxide.) It will irritate your skin, at a minimum. I would not want this stuff to be absorbed in a trans-dermal manner. I do agree,@Joy Martin, that these days nearly every institution puts us at risk for anal cancer from all the smoke they blow up there. Sadly, they ain't alone in that effort. I did find one click-bait article stating that "WD-40 Helps With Arthritis." They went on to explain that WD-40 makes doors easier to open, drawers easier to slide, etc...so your arthritis will be helped, in a click-bait sorta way. If I had to guess, I would say that people get relief from rubbing their joints and getting the circulation going. This would happen with any OTC cream, which would likely be safer to use...or just use coconut oil.
A friend on another group, said a old pharmacist she knew a long time ago, recommended Cod Live Oil rubbed into the problem joint. Mom gave it to me growing up and maybe it will be for me at my end.
I am no expert. Maybe someone here who is better versed than I knows if creams and ointments really penetrate all the way down to the joints...or to the muscles. If nothing else, Cod Liver Oil will ensure that your joints don't suffer a Vitamin D deficiency.
I was first introduced to WD-40 by an American neighbor in Japan who used it on his motorcycle sprockets. That was 1971. I have never heard of using on one's skin.
Ditto. I don't know of anything "miraculous" about WD-40. We always have a couple of cans in the garage for squeaky hinges and such but I'd never put it on my skin. For one thing, I think the smell is awful.
Chemicals like WD 40 have a penetrating ability and for some people even decades ago it relieved arthritis pains. Problem is that it can take in germs and bacteria that could cause some people a lot of trouble. There is another product that was used for veterinarians treating horses with muscle damage, I always forget the name of the stuff but it was a real cure for arthritis pain also and it had the same problem of taking in germs and bacteria so it was never approved for human use., I did have a good older friend who still was able to get the stuff from a vet and he used it for his pain. I have used tons of the WD 40 over the years and I could always tell it was penetrating my skin when I would get it on my hands. I always remember a sweet girl I met 45 years ago, she worked for the little WD 40 Plant in Houston on the Northside near highway 1960.
You are talking about DMSO for arthritis pain. That does work, but, as you said, the risk of contamination is significant. It is used I believe in elderly patients for transdermal administration of some medications.
I have used DMSO for maybe close to 50 years , with no problems. I first remember reading about it back in the late 60’s-early 70’s, and at that time, you had to buy it at a feed store or other store that sold horse stuff. Now, you can buy it on Amazon, either straight or as an ointment or lotion. It comes from evergreen trees, and I remember my mom showing me how to break a “blister” on the bark of a balsam tree and use the pitch inside for treating any kind of wound. It worked better than just about anything you could buy for healing a cut or bad scrape and was easy to get if you lived out in the country.. There are some excellent books about the use of DMSO on amazon. I won’t drag this thread off-topic, but I am pretty sure we have other threads that mention DMSO. Aloe vera is also a penetrant, and helps to take things deeper under the skin, like for arthritis medicine. I have also read the stories about people using WD-40 for pain, but have never tried it myself.
