Only because it was shot in black n white for ages and colorized after color TV became popular. It amazes me what nice stitch work the clothes have. I love to look at those civil war photos and those people were really ragged. Only thing I saw in one of those pictures that made an impression on me was a Mess Hall on a nice post. It had a clean brick floor and in the center was nice clean stainless cauldron steam heated. I know it was steam heated because the piping runs down from the ceiling and out of the building where it is probably fed by a vessel and stoked by the KP dude. Now that was in the civil war batch of photos so they did have some measure of modern apparatus. The services still use the method today to cook or prepare meals. Shame they never learned to make good coffee

My fave newer "cowboy" movie is still Quigly Down Under, great flic. I still love the older ones with Jimmy Stewart, Richard Widmark, John Wayne (of course John). I was born in 52 and I was only about 3 I think when our first tv arrived. Of course I wanted to be like Annie Oakly ;)

Maybe someone can recommend a movie for me tonight, something I most likely can get on Prime. I like adventure type movies best, like Hatari! Remember that one with John Wayne, Red Buttons, all kinds of great stars. It had everything, frightening stuff, a little romance, funny stuff with animals :)

I really like good syfy like Battleship was good to me anyway. But I think @Thomas Stillhere has got me wanting to watch a Western. I guess I'll see if anyone else has a suggestion of something they've seen lately. I'll look through the thread and see what I can find, oh I love a good mystery too!

A hard one to find on youtube but Return To Lonesome Dove is a great movie and most of the original characters were back from Lonesome Dove except Tommy Lee Jones playing Captain, it was John Voight Stepping in and played the role and did a great job doing so. I probably watched Lonesome Dove at least 10 times, winter is my best time to watch that on a cold weekend start to finish. It is non stop action in Return To Lonesome Dove. Hope you can find a free version on youtube that has good resolution. If you like good war movies then try this one.....https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8579674/
One more that you can watch on youtube but the resolution is not great, you might search crackle and other streaming free movies and or even Peacock, I loved this movie it was just great......

I had a Buffalo Bob Fringe and pants suit, a Hopalong Cassidy 2 White Handle Grip Six Shooters and a Scabbard with Red Rhinestone (plastic) stones. Caps were 5 cents so I couldn't afford them. In 56 I begged for a pair of those Buster Brown Army Boots that had the top leather leggings that buckled. Finally they got tired of the begging and bought them for Christmas. I wore those boots until the soles needed a redo. We would be hard pressed to find an actual shoe repair place today because they are all made from paper and plastic if they come from China, but we have no shoe business which once thrived in the State of Arkansas, those plants no longer exist. Yes, it was. I follow Daniel Craig and I came across the DVD at the flea market.

Here's something stupid in movies (movie theaters, that is.) Apparently now it is a thing to go online and reserve seats, purchase tickets, etc. for a movie. What the heck. Of course I never GO to a movie, but what's wrong with simply walking up to the ticket booth and then walking into the auditorium and selecting a seat like the old days. All those high-paying ticket booth and usher jobs lost to an app; what's the world coming to?? (This probably should be in the "Back in My Day" thread.)

My husband took our granddaughter to the movies earlier tonight to see some goofy haunted house movie; he said the concessions (popcorn, drinks, milk-duds) were $40. Sheesh.

I'm afraid my credit isn't good enough to take in a movie today.

Now to me a stupid thing about movies"all of them" the credits never show the date unless it is in some tiny Roman numeral crap. I don't count using roman numerals because I can't see them on screen. I would like to see how old some movies are.
