I don’t understand people with that attitude. In every job I’ve had, the expectation is that they are going to pay me to put forth my best effort. Why on earth should they pay someone a full salary who is only working part time? If they wanted a part time employee, they could have hired one. Irresponsible, entitled attitude…

I work from home in my web directory job, and, while he does not use keystroke technology, the directory software includes data on modifications that are made to listings, new sites added, new categories added, and so on. Plus, he knows which sections of the directory we're working on, and he has let a few people go during the 17 years or so that I've worked there. When more research, than usual, is required for a category description, I'll mention that in my weekly reports so that he will know why it took a longer time than usual for me to add that description. So far, he hasn't questioned my work.

My last employer force people to work from home. If you didn't supervise a staff, you didn't have an office. It was a world of extremes.

-Some of us would fire up our computers before we'd put on the coffee pot, getting to "work" hours before we used to get to the office. We would also check emails for any crises a couple of times during the evening.

    -Others did very little.

This is how Homer Simpson spoofed the keystroke monitor:
