Let me tell a story I can tell it all, About the mountain boy who ran illegal alcohol. Daddy made the whiskey Son he drove the load, When his engine roared they called the highway Thunder Road! Hal
Beatrice, I really want to thank you for posting the "Thunder Road" video clip! Robert Mitchum actually composed that song! Hal
In the days of yore, when I was a yet young and somewhat looser with my life, this was my recipe for alcohol during those times when my pocket was emptier. Jail House Buck 3/4 gallon of warm water 1 1/2 pounds of sugar 6 packs of Fleishman's yeast orange or grapefruit sections for flavor balloon Mix water and sugar until sugar is dissolved (simple syrup) add yeast and mix thoroughly add fruit or not place the gallon jug in a sink or pot and cover the opening of the jug with the balloon (spillage control and possible overflow) let sit for 24 hours, strain and serve. Do Note: It tastes like the insides of someone's sweaty boots but 10 ounces is guaranteed to be significantly enough to not even think about going for the car keys.
@Bobby Cole if your budget won't support fresh fruit you can use a packet of Kool-Aid for flavor, don't ask me how I know!
"Get you a copper kettle, Get you a copper coil, Cover with new-made corn mash, And never more you will toil... You'll just lay there in the junipers, While the moon is bright, Watch them jugs a-fillin', In the pale moonlight! My daddy he made whiskey, My granddaddy did too, We ain't paid no whiskey tax, Since 1792, We just laid there in the junipers, While the moon was bright, Watched them jugs a-fillin', In the pale moonlight." (From a Joan Baez folk song in the '60's) Hal
