For many years I used Firefox and NEVER updated it with no problems, I dont need all the latest bells and whistles. About a year ago I had some computer problems on my Win 7 system which I still use as refusing to get into the latest Win that updates if you want it to or not. The alternatives of one of the many Linux systems is very attractive but old minds and new systems dont mix well for this old boy. That all said I did make the mistake up updating my very old Win 7 system only to now be nagged every day by a very annoying 'update available' in the top right hand corner which apparently cannot be permanently turned off (an least not easily)

I use Safari and Brave mostly. I have different default search engines for each one. Brave is pretty good at blocking junk. It displays a report on the blank page. Amazing how much junk it’s intercepted.

Beta is merely Goolge/Chrome a way to try their newest things and try them out before they become permanent in a update is best way I can explain Beta anything. Opera is another browser which is used by many. Why they are giving you that choice I do not know.

There might be some new ones since I put this together a couple of years ago, but here are some. They're not all privacy browsers, however. Check the descriptions.

I believe the point is that if you use the Google Chrome browser and search with DuckDuckGo, the Google Chrome browser still captures and [supposedly] reports your browsing habits. What gets confusing is that Google Chrome is a browser (the software you use to access websites like this forum), and Google also has a search engine you can access on any browser.

Both the Google Chrome browser and the Google search engine spy on you...so we try to use neither. I use the Firefox browser and the DuckDuckGo search engine, although I'll sometimes use other search engines (but never Google) if DDG does not yield satisfactory results..
