How often do y'all check your bp? For me, I forget, unless I get headaches, then I remember to check. Or if I have a dental appt., I know it will be going up then so, I just take my medicine and hope for the best. I have been taking amlodipine for so far 5 and 10 mg. Woke up a few nights ago at 3 a.m. and was so dizzy, that I didn't think that I would make it to the restroom, but I did and was wondering if that's one of the side effects that hit me. I did a search before putting this up, and nothing came up under blood pressure. Figure it will be okay to put it up and ask y'all how often you check on your BP. :)

That's about how often I do to. 146/88. My heart rate is 96, just checked mine too. Sometimes my heart rate is 126 or higher, not sure why. Thanks, Hoot for the reply. :) Just nice to see what others think about healthy procedures, that we should follow.

I've yet to buy a BP machine because of the negative reviews I see on them.

My latest BP at my doctor's was 120/56, pulse 63.

We have three battery ones and one manual kind you pump up with a stethoscope for listening. They're all usually close to a good reading as our doctors are. I don't think any are exact, but I do believe they will let you about it when it's getting too high. So far your low numbers and Hoot's are like Marie's low numbers and pulse too. Thanks for replying John. :)

Well, I looked online at my latest doctor visit to pull that number, and there's an exclamation point next to it. The web says that a diastolic number below 80 is "high," and mine is 56. I don't understand. My doctor didn't way anything to me about it. The web also says that 120 is "normal." I always thought that was pretty low.

I have a heart stress test coming up in a month or so, I'll ask then.

Yeah, you should ask about it, Marie's always low except when she had a stroke, and then they both were high, at that time. So the lower the diastolic number, the higher it really is? "Right"? I didn't know that.

Short video on what they should be.

He's said diastolic should be between 60 and 80, so John, you were 4 below that.

Don't take that data to the bank. It's what I read on the web. This made me go online and look at historical numbers. My top# has usually been around 116, my routine pulse is 76, and my bottom number is 64 or so. Heck, there's one in there that's 101/59! This has been with my GP and with my nephrologist.

I was seeing a cardiologist in early 2020 and he took my BP every 3 months, but I don't seem to have an online account where I can look this stuff up.

LOL we are ready for it, Huh?
Guess I'll just take my stroked out self off this thread. Just hope you don't blow a vein with all these BP gadgets.

According to the video, I put up, you're ok most of the time and just 4 below that one time. You should request copies, before long because what I've heard, is that they only keep records for a certain length of time.

I just looked at one from 5 years ago. 110/60. And no one has ever said anything about hypotension.

That was the doctors fault, well and the fact my BP was 240 \ 126 may have had something to do with it.
They did bring it down too fast though.

The doctor in that 1-minute video I put up, said 60 diastolic is okay. Maybe that's why they didn't say anything.
