True, but as I remember it, it was 243/149 or so. They did bring it down too fast and gave you a stroke. :( You should go check your's now.

Maybe once a week. My blood pressure runs pretty low, except when I am nervous or have a fever.

@John Brunner here's another 4-minute video about diastolic #'s. That must have been what happened to me the other morning at 3 a.m. when I woke and was super dizzy.

Now that we've moved, we can both check our BP a couple of times a week. We each have our own battery operated BP machine. Mine from the VA and bought my wife one on Amazon. Both of us were pretty normal when we left Colorado. We both take a med for our BP.

Generally, before checking our BP, we will check our blood glucose. My meter/supplies are from the VA and hers from a doctor she use to have.

That sounds about like me, I just seem to forget to take it most of the time, if I feel okay. I understand it going up when nervous, like dentist visits for me. Thank you for posting Krystal. :)

I think a couple of times a week is good too. I figured others would know how often, better than I would know. Like a second opinion so to speak. Moving is very stressful, as a lot of things are; "I guess". When we were young, we never even had to think about checking B.P. unless we got hurt or something. Thanks for replying Cody.

Having had a major stroke (mostly due to high BP) about 5 years ago and then be assigned a regular NP (Nurse Practitioner) and on meds for same I used to take my BP regularly till we got my BP under control. I now just take it once in a while or if I feel 'not right' or if I have a check up soon. (which readings I save and for my nurse) My BP is always way high during those visits and varies greatly during the day so I dont get excited unless I see readings lower than 120 or above 150. For me 130 -140 is ideal and where I sit on average most times I check.

Sounds like you've got figured out Don. That's the way I usually do, check it mostly when I don't feel right. Marie had a stroke too, so I know it can give you one if it runs too high, or if it's brought down too fast like hers was done. Thanks for replying. :)

Do you know if you will be doing a "real" stress test--treadmill and all, or a "simulated" test with an IV stimulant? As we get older, the simulated ones are deemed safer by some doctors as they reduce the risk of falling...but you have to lay off caffeine to do it.

I was offered a choice by my doctor. I chose treadmill. I gotta call to make sure that is what's scheduled. The pre-test instructions say to lay off the caffeine, and that there are long rests in between. That does not sound like treadmill to me.

I take ours about once a week only because we have ours under control for now. Doctor told me BP changes thru out the day,and in the beginning would have me take 3 times in a row. @Jake Smith -
I Would not wait until you feel funny to take pressure, ever. Schulue on your phone to take BP preferably around same time everyday, other every other day.
One night during campaigning season, I took Bp was 214 over something or other. Nurse called me back and asked- are you watching Trump? If so turn it off... lolo, noo i am not. Doctor changed my meds and that never happened again.
The way and time you take BP can make a difference.

Sometimes, I'll forget for a few months, then I'll keep a record of my blood pressure at various times, usually before going in for an annual check-up since they often try to tell me that it's high based on one reading in their office. No blood pressure decisions should be made on the basis of one reading.

I have the iHealth BP wrist monitor, and I usually take mine once every day or so, just to keep a record of it. Since the cuff connects with my iPhone, I always have the record right there on my phone if my doctor wants to see how my BP has been doing and it is easy to show him.
The iHealth BP cuff connects with usb and charges up, so I never have to even worry whether the batteries are getting worn down or not. (I HATE changing batteries ! )
Actually, Bobby is the one who ended up changing the batteries when they went dead, but it was usually right when I wanted to use the machine; so the usb charging one works much better for me.

I am not concerned if it is completely accurate, as long as it is giving me a good indication of what the BP is doing and the record shows how it always tends to be.
Mine is normally around 120/70, give or take a little either way, depending on when I take the measurement.

Up here, no caffeine restriction is required for the treadmill, but caffeine interferes with the action of the drug given to simulate the treadmill. The simulation has fewer variables as well, so....

That sounds like a neat device, and like Bobby ,Jake would have to set it and read it for me. I joke about him, he is really wise when it comes to tech or mechanical things, unlike me.:confused:o_O
